What is it about Judy?
Spoilers.
I genuinely want to know what it is about Judy that people love, since I myself don't.
I have played as both female and male V, and I did all missions with Judy in both.
I don't feel that she cares about V in any way, all she does is ask for help with her own personal problems, and when she doesn't get her own way she whines and stomps her feet like a child. I felt that she is very obsessive in a creepy way, selfish and whiney.
At the end of the pyramid song mission, Johnny asks to leave, and I did.
And you never hear from Judy again, and let's put it this way, she doesn't know why you left, but she won't bother to call or ask, she just disappears.
I felt that most characters though don't really care about V, most just wants help from V.
I felt that the characters that actually cared was Panam and Johnny.
Let's also take Kerry for example, if you take him with you on the nomad ending,
he will refuse to go with you. And some people have said it's understandable because "he's a city person, has his music and career in the city" Yes, of course. But V is his partner, and is literally dying. Has 6 months left to live, Kerry can't take 6 months off the city for his partner who is dying? He can just go back to the city after. I just feel like most characters you meet are selfish. But if that's the idea, I get it. I mean, the whole story/game is sad itself,
there is no happy endings really and everything is pretty dark. And I enjoy it,
but it's just a bit disappointing with the romance options that doesn't care for you.
The rest reacts to your health/situation more like "Oh yikes that s*cks, anyways.."
But I have seen so much love for Judy. But I felt it was a drag to be around her.
So I genuinely want to know others opinions, what their reasons are for loving her.
Maybe I have missed something, not understood something.

i did the judy romance thing, and i can't even tell myself what is it about her that was so attractive. i guess i just wanted my V to have someone to love.
i thought Judy was kinda cute. she grew on me over time, and i actually started to just ship my V with Judy.
i like Judy's style, also can't recall ever being annoyed by her.
i would of done the Panam romance but it is only available for a straight male V.

Besides the point that all charakters are programmed to react like someone thought one might react in those situations and even then everyone has a different taste in persons so there will never be a general answer to your question about "what is it about Judy?", I humbly give you my opinion:

Panam never is really true to her word and childishly does want she wants when she thinks she is right. Just remember Vs first deal with Panam. The car and the cargo for her help. Did she hold onto this? No. Her personal revenge against Nash was more important than holding the deal. In the camp she basicly ignores her bosses orders end flames a rebellion against him. If it wouldn't have been for V, Panam might have caused the doom of her clan.

Judy on the other hand called you "walking corpses" at the beginning of the heist, still she helped her friend Evelyn despites not liking it.
After that she wants to know what happened to Evelyn and yeah, needs Vs help just like Panam needs it. But after knowing what happened she starts caring and worrying for the other dolls and tries to take steps to improve their situation, which is almost unrelated to her since Judy is a Mox. It turned out bad in the end, but clearly beyond hers and Vs grasps. But she did it for others.
Therfor I would vote for Judy if there would be a ranking who is the better person.

I see, I understand your view. I do agree that Panam is very childish in her ways as well and bossy, but I just simply felt she cared more for V wanting to help, even if she couldn't. I didn't feel that Judy even wanted to help or care. Everyone had their personal problems they wanted help with, and of course that is fine, no problems in that. I just felt like most characters didn't care about giving anything back.Specially Kerry, River and Judy. I guess I just felt most characters were a bit empty. But it is not mainly a romance game so I don't get hung up on it. I was just confused about why people love Judy so much.
Maybe it's just that, personal taste.

this. Note, I didn't play female V to experience the judy booty but I have perused the steam artwork section for this game long enough to have an appreciation.

In the end, it is personal taste. :) You are right abour those characters, too. They are... like in real life if it comes to that point. They "care" abut V. Just they would care about a stuffed wallet. You did something for them in the first place. V anhilated a wraith gang for Panam. Actually twice, the one from Nash and the one holding Saul. If someone would do such an insane thing for you and might do that in the future, you would "care" for them, too. For River V did fight an Animal group, helped breaking into a lab... he basicly needed a partner in crime since he was a cop by heart. Most of them just started to like V because V did something for them no one else could have done.
Judy even would have a reason to hate V because the heist failed which lead to Evys fate.

Judy tries to slip away from V when first met and let her toy-doll be a frontier for anyone who want to call her up. You're not an invited friend. You walked in to the bar and pretty much asked the staff where to find Judy in front of Judy. You're also some sort of serial-murder according to the news about V

And Panam doesn't know this because she doesn't watch the news. The weather is the news for the nomad. The meeting with Panam was set-up and not a coincidence. Sometimes you need water under the bridge to find a middle ground and that's why there is a stronger bond with Panam, because she want to be there while V is only extracting information from Judy and felt most like part of the main mission than a side quest because of how her toy-doll (is)was a part of the main mission.

Evelyn Parker, that's the woman who we really do want to know about. Judy is depending on her Joytoy, clinging on it as a child to a mother. And even if Evelyn Parker is a reference to Blade runner we'll never see any sort of conclusion or revelation about the Joytoys, they're just robots. Concubine, dead walking automobiles. Used as messengers or any sort of target to be killed by assassins, so I see it like Judy got the value's worth since Evelyn only did what she was meant to be doing.

Then asking us to find out who tried to assassin her, well. You just doing a job for another client in return for the favor of using Judy's braindance gear.

Her haircut and tats instantly hooked me. She’s a total geek and one of only a few characters that actually creates instead of destroying. She has the most self-awareness and self-esteem of any of the characters in the game. She’s the only one that isn’t drawn in and dazzled by the promises of the merc life. She consistently butts up against V’s view rather than simply complying.

And her relative innocence is really cute. Look up her NCPD sheet.

Although in a way I actually find it hard to get involved with her as she is basically a citizen and V is likely to bring only death and heartbreak to her life.

What refernce would that be? I watched the movies a while ago and I can't remember someone similar to Evely. Just curious here. ^^

One thing that I feel the game did well was that the characters did feel real in the sense they were not perfect, had their flaws, etc. It did intrigue me to see how many people were so into Judy, in my own ignorance I thought for sure everyone would be about Panam.

For my own personal taste and whom I would usually romance in a game, I found myself not wanting to romance anyone due to V's state of living but accidentally "connected" with Panam in the basilisk as the innuendo flew right over my head :k8dead:

But as to all of their reactions at the end and with each particular ending, I think a little more time could have been spent on lines and making each one feel fleshed out a bit more. I too thought it was jarring, some of their reactions.

Misty is who they were refering to. lot of misunderstanding of the story in here apparently.

Overall, I feel like the romance options are a bit less complex and realistic than I was hoping for. It feels a little simple: Your love interest asks you for a favour, you do what they want, reapeat a couple of times and BAM, sex is being had.
Compared to TW3 there is also the issue about the whole romance stories being mostly encapsulated in their own quest-lines with very little totie them back into the main story. This is a little less true for Panam and Judy than Kerry and River.
Because of that, both Judy and Panam are a little more attractive to me than the other options because they just feel a little bit more part of your life than the others (though not as much as I would like.)

As for Judy over Panam, I like them both a lot. What I like about Judy is that she feels more complex and in that sense more real to me. She is a rebel at heart, but has all her defenses up. She can be snotty or hard as steel or vulnerable. You kinda get that she craves to be more open and is afraid to open up at the same time. I can relate to her conflicts, a lot.
