Play the game first or watch the anime first?
What's the best choice here?

I would say the actions in the anime occurred before the game, so, really there isn't a wrong answer here. I would say watch the anime first, simply because of the time it takes to do so versus playing the game. You could watch the anime (idk, like 6 hours), play the game (like 20 hours) then if you want, could watch the anime again to pick up on anything you missed. Less time investment than playing game for 20 hours, watching the show for 6 or so hours, then playing the game again to make extra connections for another 20 hours.

In my opinion, I suggest watching the Anime first. It shows very intensively certain aspects of the lore that are somewhat neglected in the game. If you then dive into the game, you get a better feeling / understanding of what is actually going on in this world, what characterizes this world and the people in it.

On the other hand, I have to admit that I had already played the game for about 400 hours before I saw the Anime. From that point of view, it gave me another big push to dive even more into the world of the game.

Greetz :winkkit:

Edit : The Anime has 10 Episodes with ~20 minutes length per Episode (without Intro + Outro) -> ~ 3 1/2 hours to watch.

The anime takes place before the events of the game so I'd start with the anime.

400 hours is pretty impressive! WOW! :steamhappy:

Appreciate the answers from everyone. Looks like I'll be diving into the anime pretty quick here!

Or if you're like me and not into anime much, just play the game :P
Unpopular opinion, I know, but I watched the first 4 episodes and couldn't make myself watch the rest. Didn't find it completely terrible, but to me it was all just a bit too much comic/anime like (captain obvious, I know), too exaggerated. Guess, I'm just more fond of the Western type of cyberpunk that feels grittier to me.

just play the game..... why the developers put the focus on anime garbage instead of improving the game itself.... just rediculous

Watch anime for fun, bonus, there is some in game quest for some of the clothing seen in the anime.

Watching the anime made me want to re-play the game.
I highly suggest watching a few episodes before dipping your feet into the game and then take a break and watch some more.

anime first! its 2076! then hop onto 2077 only makes sense ^^

I don't think it really matters. I would play the game first and if you are starting to lose interest, watch the anime. Or do them together, watch an episode, play the game, take a break watch another.

They barely have anything in common other than where they geographically take place.

Whichever one suits you most.

I would play game, avoid the Edgerunners quest (It has a green logo grafftited on the wall) then watch the anime before playing the Edgerunners quest to really understand it.
