its been good for a long time now
i just started playing it again myself. Still has some jank to it like stupid AI behavior and other annoying things but i can now sit down and play it for a full sesh without any game breaking bugs or buggy visuals. After 2 years they finally made the game 60%ish of what they promised.

It was always good. Some people had technical problems with their PC's or were more offended by minor bugs than others. There were some serious issues with some quests that seemed to mostly based on luck whether you encountered them or not. There were problems with the savegame system that could be avoided if you knew about them before you hit the trigger. The police system was really annoying, but has improved. I never encountered any bugs that stopped me from playing when the game was released. The serious bugs have been fixed, but some minor ones are still there. I just don't care if I see the occasional parked car with it's wheels stuck into the concrete or being able to see pedestrians and cars appear and disappear in the distance. Night City itself is the most amazing creation I've ever seen in a video game. I always adjust the time so I'm always playing at night because that's when it really shines. You'll want to have an RTX card to really appreciate what CDProjekt have created. It's like being in a film noir movie.

Bought it a few months ago, have multiple playthroughs behind me and my experience is 99% good. It may have been bad on release, but it has been a stable and fun experience for me.

I've enjoyed the game since release. The whole debacle about bugs and how incomplete it was simply wasn't true for me. In my 300+ hours of playing on release, I witnessed like, 3 bugs. I believe that's a lot less than most games these days. Honestly believed it was some sort of corpo sabotage to ♥♥♥♥ on CDPR.

People who don't believe I played v1.0 can check my achievement dates. Even have hundreds of screenshot I took from 3 play throughs.

Yea I played since 1.0 as well, my worse bug back at that time was just T poses once in a while but every mission still worked

I had a rtx2060 super and had no problem playing this game with max settings at 1080p. There is still the strange lag if you start a fresh install and then hit escape and go into options.

The fps still drops by 5-8%, I cant be the only person who has noticed this? I was hoping after all that time there would be fix. If some visual setting is being changed when I click into options, I dont see it.

But I completed the game no problem, had one quest, the independent press or something that I couldnt complete due to a bug, but was able to load an earlier save and complete it. Most of these bugs should be fixed now...

I bought the game at full price and I dont care if anyone believes me or not, but I didnt feel ripped off. Console players on the other hand did get a legitimate ♥♥♥♥ show.

The gameplay is still pretty average but the story, graphics and ost are really good. And it's not as buggy as it was on release.

To be honest the game was always damn good and with 1.6 it got even better, I am loving the latest patch and can't wait for the DLC. The biggest regret I have for this game is that all the naysayers have reduced the chance for extra content to be developed for it, I was dismayed to hear that only one major DLC would be produced for it. Still have had a great time playing this, one tip I have for you, play on max difficulty...

Its still nothing like i imagined from the Trailers and pre release content, its an rpg story shooter, not an open world player driven experience.
Id refund if i could.
If a story shooter is what you were looking for or your thing its probably good then.

Dont mean to take the Op topic off the rails but wut?
I thought this was unanimously considering the ultra mega bestest patch, can you elaborate please, its literally why i finally decided to start "actually" playing it.
to answer OP's question. Yeah it's alright to try and play again.

Its been good since it launched, story and gameplay wise. But yeah theres less bugs. Although I got lucky and never really had even minor bugs.
Other people talked about the AI, this is kinda true. But theres mods to help with that kinda, there is one where it gives you custom settings for how hard the game is, but also has a option to make the enemy shoot as fast as you, which make the ai FEEL way better. Since they dont have like a turn based combat style. And more aggressive. generally aggressive AI feels better than passive. Even if it really isnt better.

Dont say with 1.52 like some say. 1.6 is fine with more guns and weapons and gigs. Just a minor amount of people (still bad) have issues with it. Plus often theyre using mods so they just dont wanna go to 1.6 yet. But over all 1.6 is better than prior versions.
