Is alcohol still useless?
All I see is that it lowers stats and that's it.

Seems fairly realistic.

Yep, I like the post drinking visuals though...
Food, Drink & Alcohol buffs look like another area where they ran out of time, the items are modelled so well but in terms of the benefits: a single identical buff for each category - and a single de-buff for alcohol.
Have sort of been hoping a modder might turn their attention to that and flesh it out a bit more.
Bethesda do a pretty good job of mixing up their buffs for foods etc..

Ah, I see the OP also remembers System Shock 2 zero psi power runs where you were chugging psi point draining vodka to save on health kits.

But yeah. While I don't mind a lack of "Penalize the player for not keeping food and drink buffs up" fake depth? It does get very awkward every time even a soda machine just spits out a samey crumpled bag.

Or all the live person food and drink vendors that just open a menu full of the same food items as everywhere else.

Well it ain’t gonna sharpen your senses…

May dull them though.

Alcohol Should add +charisma, but this games doen'st have a stat like that... just random skills that open random dialogs.. that most of times change nothing.

shame that consumables were an after thought, they could have done so much more with them. alcohol should give like 10% increased blunt or solely fist damage or something.

Eeh, only towards other drunk people. For sober people, alcohol will give you a pretty solid charisma penalty.

They could have done so much more with everything, but management wanted the game out way before it was ready.

Alcohol gives you buffs like + crit, but - speed.

Game still wouldn't be released.

Okey, looked it up again.

All Alcohol drinks gives:
- 10 % Speed/ + 50 % Accuracy

Thats ... +50% weapon sway, which makes accuracy worse.

It doesn't give +50% accuracy. It actually reduces it.

I feel the devs should at least balance it by giving alcohol drinks a 10% reduced damage taken buff (along with the current debuffs). It would kinda make sense (dulling the pain), and make alcohol somewhat useful at least.

I like that idea, also all the "life buffs" need to be alot longer in duration.

there is so much consumables in this game, but it sucks that they are pretty much just for cosmetics. They could have implemented some more witcher style crafting, like using alcohol as a part of a potion. It will make all the consumables much more meaningful.
