Is the overwatch sniper bugged or am i just not using it right?
so i got a lot of hours in this game and im just now messing around with the Overwatch and O'Five snipers and i have a question and hopefully someone in the community can help me understand. With the Overwatch it has a built in silencer, the problem is as soon as i hit or kill someone with it the enemies are instantly aware of my location and start shooting at me no matter how far away i am but a separate group of enemies literally a few feet away are not alerted to my location while a revolver or pistol of any kind with a silencer attached does not automatically alert them to my location, instead they wander around looking to find me but have not noticed me. Ok so here is my question, Is this sniper bugged or am i missing something here?

I can't say if this would be the problem or not because I was using silenced revolvers, but if you assassinate someone very close to others they will notice it and go alert. If you can use the distract function on the scanner to draw one or more away from the one you are sniping that might give you time to pick off the others too before they react or find the body but I am not sure since I haven't tried using the Overwatch rifle. I saw other threads mention this issue so maybe Overwatch isn't as silent as a revolver if there are different levels of audibility between weapon types.

Overwatch and oFive are both extremely over rated. Choose guns with smart bullets that have homing abilities.

you make an interesting point with the weapons having different sound levels.

yes, after playing around with both the Overwatch and O,Five i agree, ultimately ill probably just stick with my shotgun. i was just testing the rifles to see if i liked them enough to make a new character based on snipers but with the Overwatch's inability to kill an enemy as quietly and effectively as a silenced revolver/pistol/assault rifle i think im just not going to use any of the snipers.

Silent sniping with the big sniper rifles just isn't a thing in this game. While Overwatch might say it has a silencer it in ineffective. All the Grad family of rifles might as well be called Dinner Bell cos the second you fire one everyone comes running. As someone who has played many hours of Fallout and is a big fan of silenced 50 cals I can understand your frustration, however I also feel that Cyberpunk is a rare game in that it treats heavy calibre rifles more realistically silencer wise. i am not aware of any silencer available for any 50 cal rifle and if anything the Grads look like they are chambered for the Russian 14.5mm round which is even bigger than 50 cal (12.7mm).

fair point

Silencers do not work very well in real life, they are actually suppressors and only make the sound quieter, the click you get in computer games and on TV is not really how they sound. Even Subsonic rounds make a medium noise.

Anyway on point. If you attack someone in a crowd with a silenced weapon they all become aware someone is around, and your head popping out from behind cover means they see you, so fire and duck. Use distraction to move one away from the crowd first or fire when they are all looking in another direction.

I suggest you invest in Quick Hacks. In particular Sonic Shock and Reboot Optics.

The former removes a target from the awareness of its allies and prevents them calling for help if they are attacked. As long as they are not standing or dying in front of their allies, their absence after getting killed will not be detected. Also they can't scream for help if you botch the shot. Furthermore its legendary iteration piggy backs it into any long duration quick hack, denuding the senses of anyone affected by the carrier hack, so that their detection range is further reduced; They may know you are around but they will have great difficulty finding you.

A more brute force approach is to use Reboot Optics. Blind people can't see people getting murdered, so they won't call for help while you kill everyone around them. The legendary version is also good safety net in conjunction with Breach Protocol. Anyone who sees you has their eyeballs exploded automatically, giving more than enough time to dispose of them.

Going through all of that hassle, it may just be easier to just use System Reset,

He says in the original post, had you taken the time to actually read it, "but a separate group of enemies literally a few feet away are not alerted to my location while a revolver or pistol of any kind with a silencer attached does not automatically alert them to my location" indicating that he has tested the Overwatch against other silenced weapons in similar situations and found that it behaves differently than them. This has nothing to do with him being seen.
This has nothing to do with being heard but them SEEING their nearby friend fall down dead.

If you were stood talking to a friend and they dropped down dead with their head exploding you would look around for the source. This is why there are vision arcs for bad guys.

Nah I would just stand there saying "probably just the wind" or "just a cat" even though arrows were appearing in me.

My answer actually answers the question, he may think it's about being heard but it's actually about your kill being seen by the other bad guys, why can't you get your head around this?
