On the map the fixers gigs show as a box with an exclamation mark in it.
Since 1.5 gigs come in batches, so 2-3 at a time from fixers.
If you want to know where they are then piggyback do a free interactive map.
Its definitely doable. They just unlock in 2-3 gig batches and you need a certain level of street cred to unlock the next. If the next batch does not pop up, do some police scanner missions for street rep.
Fixers will call you when you first enter their area but their gigs may or may not show up in the journal as side missions.
To see all the gigs on the map, you need to change the map filter to custom. Then for example, you can put a check mark in ncpd gigs (on the map filter), and it will show you all of them. Or put a check in cyberpsycho and it will show all of those on the map. Or put a check in the box simply marked Gigs, and it will show you all the fixer gigs and side gigs across the whole map.
The gigs are there but they usually don't show up (as side jobs) in your journal until you get very close to them. Then it pops up in your journal and you get a message from the fixer (or ncpd).
