My God! This Is the Game-Sequel to the Motion-Picture JOHNNY MNEMONIC!!!
It stars the same lead-actor, Keanu Reeves, too!

Why haven't I seen anyone mention this?

Are you kidding most the people playing now dont even know who Keanu Reeves is, they were in diapers when that guy was relavent.
I remember, and recognize all of the similarities, because, although it was panned-by-the-critics, I actually really enjoyed it!

Man, the John Wick movies, ( John Wick, John Wick Chapter 2 and Chapter 3), are all badazz. Chapter 4 and 5 are being made back to back with 4 due to be released in March next year. Can’t wait🤙

Do you want the truth? Honestly-to-God, I only really like JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 1, as there was much more of a story to it than to the two sequels. The sequels just feel far-too-much like a "cartoon" than a VERY captivating story that was the original.

I know that that may not be what most-everyone-else thinks, but that is how I felt, after watching each sequel at the cinema, and have not changed my feeling, after watching them, again.

Oh, the first John Wick was by far the best, if only because it didn't over-explain the whole assassin society that only becomes more ridiculous and convoluted with each sequel. I'm also pretty sick of so many killings being revenge for other killings which were themselves revenge for other killings... It's a silly cycle.

Maybe it's just that I'm old, but I'm finding the 'constant action' in movies is starting to be quite boring. I liked John Wick 1 and 2, but I found myself checking my watch a lot during the 3rd movie.

As for Keanu Reeves...he has a fairly limited range, but within it, he's very good. Johnny Mnemonic was a pretty fun movie.

You have seen the Johnny Mnemonic Easter egg?

Because it isn't, OP. CP 2077 is based upon the setting for a tabletop, PnP roleplaying game. It's a, let's call it, exclusive world on its own, not related with Johnny Mnemonic's. Also, the world design originally predates 1988, while the movie is from 1995 (even though the tale inspiring the film dates from 1981 and it inspired certain elements in the world of Cyberpunk, such as the use of neural wetware).

The tabletop was inspired in part by the short story by William Gibson that the movie was based upon. It's one of the reccomendations in the old rule book to get a sense of the setting. So yes they do share some inspirations, through various paths.,

PnP roleplaying game drew inspiration from many more sources than Gibson's "Johnny Mnemonic". Neuromancer, Robocop, Alien, Terminator, Burning Chrome, Hardwired, Blade Runner, When gravity fails,... there are tons of references. But there's a subtle difference between being "inspired by" and being "a sequel to...".
It is "Johnny" who is trying to take-over the mind of the main-character, and Keanu Reeves played both roles. No one is going to convince me that this is not an Easter-egg, because if you have watched JOHNNY MNEMONIC, you can see the similarities to what very-well could have happened to/with Johnny becoming a very dark character like this game's "Johnny".
