Does anyone bother with the food items in the game?
I never use or touch them unless i'm selling them. do they offer anything besides taking up space in my inventory?

They give very minor and short term boosts, except alcohol that gives penalties.
If I remember correctly food is a health boost for maybe 10 minutes and non alcohol drinks are a stamina regen boost for about the same amount of time.

I personally never use them. They are not worth much but free money is free money.

I mostly sell them, but when I want tip-top health regen or stamina, I'll use them. Note that the food and pharmacy vendors in Dogtown sell some pretty remarkable stuff...

I only ever used the supplements to help me haul more weight when I don't feel like breaking down items yet (sometimes I decide to sell certain gear over creating more components).
I take stamina boosters before big fights as well, since I like to roll with shotguns.

As far as food goes, nah. Not really. Once in a while I'll scarf on scop dogs or burritos just to clear them out of my inventory.
Unfortunately these elements were never implemented meaningfully. They can provide you with some minor boosters but... I never felt like they did much in actual combat.
it just seems like a wasted opportunity. they should have had food eating animations (yes i know you can get mods to add it) it just seemed like a weird omission.

I do, but then I'm a roleplayer.
V gets up every morning, showers then gobbles down coffee and a croissant... Or a burrito and a can of Nicola from the VendIT's just outside the apartment on the way down to the garage.

Playing on very hard with Lifepath bonusses mod, I do eat them every now and then to even the playing field a little bit.

I rarely use the food items, but I sometimes use the other, more expensive and powerful buff items (stamina, health and RAM) that lasts a bit longer. Forgot if they're actually food or something else...

I've also bought some of the more super-powerful stuff in Dogtown, but since they also usually have large penalties to some stats, I rarely use them to keep things simple.

But before a boss or something I sometimes take a little bit of 'everything' :steamsunny: The short term food stuffs stack with the longer lasting and more powerful items, I believe.
Never. I ate maybe once in 2 playthroughs. My "V" runs on mineral oil.

The DLC gives Permanent food buffs (only one per shop).

food and drink ( not alcohol ) gives hp and stamina regen buffs . . . you pick it up all over the place for free , might as well use them . . . its not significant , but it all adds up

Never.. its hard to get the balance between usfull and annoying right with in game foods..

The issue is we are so godlike powerful already and food boosts are so small and brief.

I am totally fine ignoring food, sleep and other bodily functions in an action game. If it was a survival game it would be different.
