That's not exactly the case, depending on what functionality people are after. People who don't care about "community involvement" but just want to play games won't see Steam's community functions as an advantage over GoG, but may see GoG's no-DRM policy as an advantage over Steam.

It's not just about what functionality is offered, as I know Steam has quite a lot after all those years.

It's also about the reliability of those functionalities.

On another platform, I've lost all my saved games on a game, lost some DLCs, couldn't connect with friends half of the time and had a discount code given by their CS staff not even working.

Never had those problems on Steam so far, so the choice is clear for me.

For you, but someone else might disagree since they have other priorities and/or playstyles.

I'd say its worth it, I got the game for $30 and it is super buggy but overall the story and world is pretty good. Apparently they are working on new content and fixes so may as well get it now for cheaper.

idk about the site that you mentioned because it can't be talked about here, but the one I use has never caused issues. All cd keys have worked and instantly worked. The only time I regretted my buy was for a game that has mod support and I ended up getting a GoG version of it.

Of course steam wants you to stay away....they lose money when you buy from them.
