Turning off Panam Romance as Male V
So I wanted to start a new play-through with a different ending - with no romance with Panam as male V - and I don't wanna deal with navigating dialogue, just want a platonic interaction with Panam like male V gets with River. I found some codes that allow female V to romance Panam:

Game.GetQuestsSystem():SetFactStr("panam_romanceable", 1) Game.SetDebugFact("panam_romanceable", 1)

I figured maybe I could just change the codes to

Game.GetQuestsSystem():SetFactStr("panam_romanceable", 0) Game.SetDebugFact("panam_romanceable", 0)

Has anyone tried this? - don't wanna use it and it not work and I don't know until I'm already stuck in the dialogue options.

If you don't want to romance her, would it not be easier to just not pick the dialog options that romance her?

Navigating dialog?

It's just one response to end that opportunity. Nothing rude. She picks up with bro-V puts down without any fuss. It never comes back up again. Your V can be as nice as you want, but have V just set the boundaries in that one dialog option, and she's cool with just being friends.

OP trying to edit some config file instead of just selecting one dialogue option in game lol

In this case, going to such extent definitely seems like an overkill to me. At least with Panam, her interest in V isn't a complete cringefest like River's flirting attempts.

Being a completionist has never felt more like a curse than it does right now. If there was ever a time in my decades of gaming that made me want to gauge my eyes out and erase my memory, it's River's "romance".

The only consolation price for putting myself through that torture was Johnny's quote "Christ, V. Can't believe you're makin' me f#ck a cop"

Not sure I have it in me to play Valerie again but if the curse takes over, I won't have an issue with being a complete d#ck to River... or perhaps more accurately a c#nt to avoid the whole dumpsterfire.

Never played Female V but yeah, River is weird. His relationship with V needed at least one more quest in between "I Fought The Law" and "The Hunt" ... and it had to be initiated by V so that when River calls V about The Hunt, it makes sense V feels obligated or indebted to help - since it's a big ask. Of all the relationships, I feel V's with River needed more work.

Agreed. There should've been a quest or two in between, especially since it was V that reached out to River while working for Peralez and River just kind of tagged along because of his own agenda. So there's no way V would feel obligated or indebted in helping River with his Peter Pan case. It would've made more sense if it was a job offer and not just asking for it as a favor. Not to mention, being a cop River thinks all mercenaries are criminals and he doesn't have a high opinion of private investigators (which is revealed if you pick a certain dialogue option when first speaking to him), so why is he asking V to help him in the first place?

With the discussion largely revolving around the cases and most of the personal topics being through texts, it seems strange for the two to become friends or be open for a relationship with that little interaction and zero chemistry.

Quest where the two bond, would've made all the difference. It also would've made more sense for River officially quitting the force to become a private investigator. While "I fought the law" and "the hunt" were great quests, there was minimum effort put into Rivers character. Dev team squandered his potential.

River's (and Kerry's) 'romance' sequences were awkwardly written. Too bad. As good as this game is, some of it was just undercooked. But it's quite easy to avoid the romances simply with dialogue choices.

I wouldn't bother with that. Even if you play as a woman, Panama hits on you with the exact same dialogue for most of it, including cuddling with you on the couch, them she says she's not into women if you try. (Same with all the romanceable NPCs really) So just say no and move on, there's no avoiding it.

You can avoid a romance with Panam, but then you miss some quests and lose the Nomad ending. When she wants you to help her stealing the basilisk, you go to Saul and tell him about it. Saul will then stop her and Panam will hate you forever. Also, the nomads vanish.

Uh, hate to break it to you but what you describe is betraying Panam, *not* avoiding the romance. You can choose not to romance Panam and still complete her loyalty quests and unlock the Aldecaldo ending.

Yeah this is pretty much pointless. There's literally one dialog option that actually sets the romance path or not.

It's a whole lot easier to just not pick that option. You will still have all the same dialog options regardless. Just don't pick the final romance one.
