Yeah some people like to actually own their games. GOG games have no DRM so you can download the games installers and copy them infinitely onto USB sticks/SSDs/HDDs or whatever storage type you want.
Any time I can get a game on GOG instead of Steam I do so, because they don't allow developers to astroturf the community there.
Also, preordering the game, that gave me a GOG key, and yes, I also use gog for different games, it's a good platform
