Can these small micro shader updates end please?
It's super annoying when mods require you to sometime recheck file integrity on a cache folder and it auto-updates files along with it even when you have set the update to only happen on launch.

And now a handful of mods are broken again.

Turn off your shader cache.

It's in your Steam settings, under downloads.

It is off. Again, when you check file integrity it downloads it automatically.

Nothing to do with CDPR, so nothing they could do about it.

Yes but also no. steam does offer quite a lot of options in the back end for developers. It could be a simple checkbox for specific games where it says: "keep downloading shader cache for this game" or "update shader cache on file integrity".

We just don't know, so it could very well be in the hands of CDPR to change it.

Shader cache updates don't break mods...

Yes. Literally just yes.

Even if such a setting did it, which there is no evidence whatsoever to indicate that it does, why should the developers enable a backend setting that will invariably affect ALL users just because you personally have problems with your mods? That’s peak entitlement.

Your problems are your own. The onus has always fallen upon on you and/or the mod author to support and maintain mods.

^^^ This too.

Whatever your issue is almost certainly has nothing to do with shader pre-caching.

File integrity compares your local files to the default game files stored on Steam’s servers. If there are any differences between your local files and the default files, Steam will automatically download the default files since that is literally what checking file integrity is for.

Complaining about file integrity for doing its intended job by downloading the default fame files is like complaining that fire will burn your hand if you stick it in the flames for too long. Ridiculous.

Shader cache downloads have never caused problems for me. Whatever is causing OP's issues, I don't think it's that.

Then it must have been the "ultimate" upgrade. Game version is still 2.13, but the ultimate upgrade must have changed something so mods are now acting weird. Cause now Appearance Change Unlocker has an infinite load and CyberwareEX apparently also has stopped working from what I've read.

Edit: To answer the post Titan Awaken, I had thought shader updates did effect mods because people recommended to disable them. My bad.
