The fact that a game called Cyberpunk doesn't have a VR mode is odd
For some reason this got bounced on the GOG forums (where I own this). Anyway, for the most cyberpunk game of all time to not have a VR mode is just strange and off-brand. I know there's an unofficial mod but man, it would be really sweet if I could buy it with official support. Oh well, fan mods it is.

Because that would require a lot of time and resources CDPR apparently thought would be better suited allocated elsewhere.

As far as I know, the Witcher series doesnt have a VR mode, so being off-brand is just incorrect.

Most Cyberpunk games don't have VR. On top of which, VR itself is niche, at least on Steam.

Lmao, no one would even be able to run Cyberpunk vr.

By off-brad I mean for Cyberpunk, not for CD Project or Projekt or whatever. Sorry I didn't make that clear.

I tried. It was a low FPS/ low resolution experience, it gave me motion sickness with meta quest 2

Sure can't, it doesn't exist.

There are both pro, and con arguments to this. The biggest Con is Cyberpunk has Braindances something much more immersive then VR which are not exactly put into a good light. The second biggest Con is engine limitations which means we might see Witcher, and Cyberpunk future releases in VR. The third biggest Con is CD:PR is a subsidiary of GoG which specializes in independent DRM free gaming. Them doing VR would mean working more with at least one other company pioneering VR technology like Steam as a whole that kind of goes against their base principle. While those are big cons that is about it everything else is a pro.

In my very unprofessional opinion (and even less limited experience with VR): the quickest / likeliest path to getting the existing game into VR space will be the Mac-version. Still very unlikely, for the many stated reasons above, but I think entering the Apple hardware ecosystem (for all its pros and cons) is the path of least resistance.

It is frustrating

No it isn’t odd.

In fact, it’s perfectly logical when you look at the official stats: Less than 2% of all Steam users have a VR headset. To be precise, only 1.73% of Steam users own a VR headset.

You don’t need to be a master entrepreneur/businessman to understand that investing precious and limited developer time, effort and (most importantly) money into a technology that less than 2% of the userbase owns is both unnecessary and a misuse of human resources. On top of that, it’s not even clear what percentage of the 1.73% of VR users own this game. In other words, you’re looking at a subset of a subset of all Steam users (people who own VR headsets AND own Cyberpunk 2077 as well).

Once you factor those two conditions in, probably less than 0.5% of Steam users (and even that is likely an overestimate) who have VR and own the game. I’d rather they make more feature updates (like 2.2 that dropped today) than add a superfluous VR mode that less than 2% of CP2077 players on Steam can even use.

I really want to hate what you are saying but from a logical standpoint it seems correct, but that's such a bland and uninteresting perspective that I'm compelled to comment.

Sure if you are a CEO of a company, just listing numbers and typing like you are presenting to your shareholders, it make sense. (I also think your numbers are too low, just look at how many people have quest devices and pcvr is a thing)

Why not make cyberpunk VR a thing ? I'm pretty sure the everyone would at least give it a try just for the walking simulator experience, why was Half Life Alyx a thing when HL3 is never going to come out ? If Gaben looked at the number of vr steam users Valve would never make an AAA title like that, and that's way before quest was remotely as popular as now. But they had faith and dream of making an excellent game that can change the future and make a lasting impact.

All VR was was a dream, someone thought realty was boring and uninteresting they would rather strap big ass TVs onto their forehead, so why not Cyberpunk VR ? Why not make games based on dreams, make them accessible and start the snowball for more people to enjoy this incredible way to experience life.

Because games like Metro Awakening are why. Barely any sales.

VR is simply a niche market. It's far too much resources and money spent for too little profit. If anything, you should request that Vertigo Games make a Cyberpunk VR game, since they do specialize in VR games.

Even though its name is Cyberpunk, there are a lot of things missing. I wish the only thing missing was VR.

Thats a lie they wouldnt invest in making big games like asgards wrath2, arkham shadow, or assassins creed if that was remotely true there are amazing vr games still coming out its hardly nich anymore why dont you research the amount of people buyiing used meta quest 2s? There are many factors your missing. You can hook up any vr to pc lol.
