Worth it to buy DLC when starting a new character?

I played early on when this game was still very bugged and gave up after a while. After watching someone stream this game, I got interested again.
I was wondering if the DLC also adds new different side missions to the world? So is it worth it buying when it for a new run? Or does it only add story after main story?

It adds some side missions and a new area. I enjoyed the new content. I am not 100% certain it is worth the price of admission but I don't regret spending the money. There are some cool missions for sure. If starting a new character just wait until it's on sale. Even though you only save $5 there is no real rush to get to dog town.

I prefer to go slow through main story in games, but that only works if the side missions offer enough variety. So it is good to hear they add new missions.

It is a solid DLC. Dogtown is more of a lategame area, it opens up after you meet the voddoo boys. Your character can grow a lot if you choice before meeting the voddo bois so i decided to do another full run and try a new origin and basicly a different path through the game. You can also start a lvl 25 something char and run right there or get a new play through out it. Throw some mods on it that you didnt use too. The DLC does open up one other ending I know for sure but maybe two other endings as well. Cant remember off the top.

The Phantom Liberty _expansion_ (please don't call it DLC ) branches off from the main game, but you are able to moves seamlessly between the Phantom Liberty jobs/activity and the main game once you get into it. It's a brilliant structure and if you like the main game, you will love Phantom Liberty.

this topic been done probably a dozen times since the PL expansion came out. perhaps you could go and read all those threads.

Worth it for a new run, yes.
The expansion is an additional story for your V with a new set of possible alternate endings and some very preem gear.

Overall it's better to have it than be without it. The extra 10 levels you get for having the expansion are a huge bonus. As other people said, swapping between Dogtown and Night City is seamless.

You have everything to gain and nothing to lose by purchasing it. Especially when it's on sale.

DLC is worth the buy regardless.
Very good story, and integrates very smooth to the main story.

at least they fixed it. I didn't play this until January of this year. I can definitely say this is an all time great.
