(Spoilers, maybe) Love Like Fire - instant death

as soon as i exit the helicopter, i instantly die.
reloaded from the start of the mission several times, i always die at the same point.
no enemies left on the ground, so it's not enemy fire, it's a bug.
Aaaaand it's an unskippable mission.

had enough. any ideas how to play/hack/cheat my way past this bit?

I've never heard of that bug and I've been playing since launch. That is a cell change but why your character is dying I can't imagine.

Normally I would say it's a mod conflict, either way you will probably have to do a clean install to get around it, unless someone has a better idea.

Based on this information I would have to assume mod as well. Here is a hypothesis. Jumping out of the helicopter is when Johnny enters the game in a combat ready state. From the game's perspective the turret shooting bit doesn't count. Johnny doesn't behave like V so if you have a mod that does something to scanner mode, or V's inventory set up that wouldn't work for Johnny. Computers are stupid when they run into an issue their go to is trying to force things to work which can result in a crash.

PS Love Like Fire is part of the large skippable swath when starting phantom Liberty ready.

I've seen other threads where people have had this issue, but I don't quite remember what the solution was.

Have you tried lowering the difficulty setting before doing it?

Another solution might be to disable all mods during this mission, if you're using any.

It could indeed be some mod issue. I don't have this problem (getting killed) currently, but I have this weird issue in the same place. When ever my Johnny jumps from the chopper he stumbles and hits the floor. He doesn't die, but it is annoying. It never did this before, but I have increased number of mods over time and at some point it started doing this

ha! solved it.
i cleared out my temp folder, loaded my save in the GOG version and i got through that section ok.

the irony is that i recently bought the steam version + PL thinking it would be better behaved and less glitchy than GOG. it seems not.
oh well, we live and learn.
