Phantom Liberty ? Complete main game first ?
I have played most side missions now up to the last final mission, for some reason i never played the last mission and put the game down for almost a year. I feel like playing cyberpunk again now and see the new DLC is out

Does it matter if i complete the main game first or should i play this before the final mission ?

do Phantom Liberty when it unlocks

Doing the main quest ends V's journey, though the game will make an automatic save right before you hit that point of no return just in case you didn't do everything else or want to try another of the ending options.

PL's questline is effectively a, if huge, side quest. Which depending on your choices can also give you another option to pick from for how you want the main quest to end.

It is possible to complete Phantom Liberty both before and after beating the main game.

I didn't get Phantom Liberty until recently. Initially I thought it would make no sense to complete Phantom Liberty after the main questline if you end up with Judy or Panam since you'll leave Night City with them, but if you'd end up with River or Kerry it would fit better with the narrative because you'll be staying in Night City.

What a Fool of a Took I am.

Only to realize that none of it actually matters at all, because once you complete the main game you'll be returned to the game as it was before starting Nocturne Op55N1. Everything in Phantom Liberty will transpire as if you have not gone beyond the point of no return.

So my recommendation will echo those before me, start Phantom Liberty whenever you want after it becomes available and to complete it before Nocturne Op551.

My plan is to do the Judy arc, then the Panam arc, then the PL DLC, and finally the Takemura arc.

One of the biggest mistakes that I made before the DLC, was starting all of the arcs' at once. So now, I'm doing them one at a time.

edit:
I'll do the side arcs' and gigs first as well. Appreciated Tokenn .

You really want to do all the 'relationship' quests before heading into any ending, or Phantom Liberty. Not just the 'romances'...all the friends and important clients too. Having contact with them will have a (small) degree of bearing on the ending of the game. I skipped a lot of them when I first completed Phantom Liberty and their presence was missed.

No.
DLC adds lots of stuff that will enhance your fun in the main game areas.
Best to get those DLC features (Items, Cars, Quests) started while there are still some quests left in those areas.

I think you can just treat it as a natural part of the game. There will be a somewhat long (but very fun) introduction sequence to phantom liberty. After that you will unlock the option to freely travel between the base game areas and Dogdown.

I will say that Phantom Liberty can lead to you being offered a cure depending on your choices. Accepting that cure will start the new ending added in Phantom Liberty. Other endings of the Phantom Liberty main story mean that you simply continue with the base game and any side content you haven't yet done in Dogdown.

Phantom Liberty is just so much fun. You're not locked into P.L. once started. Meaning to say, you can leave P.L., do other quests, go to your apartments and return when you want.

I don't remember any time sensitive quests, but it's been a while for me.

I'm on my 4th playthrough and I leave Phantom Liberty till I've completed most quests.
This feels right for me. But once the P.L. mission unlocks, sure, jump in and have fun.

Can't leave Dogtown until Mr. Hands calls and gives V a free pass that allows him to come and go through the security gate. At that point the first tier of Mr. Hands gigs become available inside Dogtown. Can't remember if that happens before or after you save the president at the crash site

After, you have to go through that entire sequence with the robot/safe house before you can free roam properly.

The sooner you start the DLC, the sooner you will get access to it's toys. You dont have to complete the entire DLC in a single instance -- you can start the DLC, get access to the Relic upgrades, maybe find some of the weapons, then head back out again.

I like how we're all missing pieces of information and filling in the blanks. A collective memory, is what this is.

Phantom Liberty DLC (when to play)
My main question is when should I play the DLC in consideration with the main story-line, do the DLC quests only open at a certain point in the story or can I rush into it after getting the chip, is that even the best time to do it or should I wait until endgame?
