I beat Life's Work, got the text from Jake and no map marker was added

Did they seriously brick the one free car in the game?

It can eb glitchy, yeah. You can still go there and take the car to trigger the rest of the quest. You should be able to find it's location online.

I've also seen this happen. Look up where the car is located and once you drive close enough the quest can (finally) ping.

I think it's designed as a treasure hunt. You have to figure out the location going towards the train tracks as noted in the text message and just hunt around the area until the quest icon appears. There's actually a few hidden quests that do the same throughout NC. They won't show up on the map until you're right next to the area.

You get two hints here. Garage and train tracks.
