All weapons are non lethal by default
I don't know why but all my weapons are non lethal save for a finishong headshot. I have the non lethal weapon mod but not installed on anything. Is this a phantom liberty thing I cannot find anything about it.

I may be wrong, so take this with a grain of salt. But I am pretty sure, unless you blow a dude's head off with a heavy duty sniper rifle or carnage a guy's body in half, or use any explosive device, you have to fine a single additional bullet 'kill' them, as they roll on the ground in a 'dead but not dead' state. Its probably because of Cyber Psychos that it is like that but its definitely strange.

I think you are right. The only lethal kills are dismembering attacks, lethal takedowns (surprise) or executioner headshots, as far as I know. You could also accidentially cause a lethal kill if your target falls from significant height. Especially after a quickhack they often stumble around like a headless chicken and could fall off a roof or something.

I've also understood it from other threads here that most weapons are indeed non-lethal.

As far as I understand it, the main reason for using the PAX mod (makes weapon non-lethal) is that it also makes head-shots non-lethal. It also increases damage quite much, so I use it for my silenced guns.

Maybe you are missing every shot?

Thank you for the replies. It was driving me mad, as all the search result stated only fists, and blunt weapons were non-lethal which is what I recall from my old runs, however they were either blades or quickhacks. This is my first gun run.

in lore reasons is cause most people who'd even try to fight you would also be pretty chromed out. Personally I use a mod that add in a humanity and cyberpsychosis mechanic so only killing specific groups like scavs and the red eyed borg chooms is how I've been playing, trying to keep from killing indiscriminately so I dont lose it. Its a fun change of pace but not for everyone cause it forces you to return to your apartments to sleep and restore humanity. I like it cause the game forgets you have no time to live anyways why not turn it into a cyberpunk sim lol.

Huh I'm not sure? Pretty certain the Raiju doesn't leave many survivors? But when you upgrade that it literally cuts people in half so maybe that's why? lol I love that gun. It can shoot through most things and even that kills them so I'm really not sure?

Haven't looked at the mods available for Cyberpunk (yet) but i like the idea of that one... I try and eat, drink and sleep like a "real human" would, but there's little "incentive" to do so.

What happens if you don't sleep? Go Psycho for a set length of time? or is it a sort of "perma death" in that once you cross that threshold your done?
Sleeping gives you a massive exp boost. You should always be doing this.

sorry, didnt see this. Once you're humanity runs out you do go cyberpsycho for a bit and get a large amount of wanted starts. There's an option to have you black out at the end and randomly teleport to several different locations. Once you've gone psycho all your cyberware including even double jumping is locked until you go back to an apartment to sleep. It also adds the neruoblockers from the edgerunners show you can craft/buy to use before combat to negate the loss from open combat. Each faction of npcs has different humanity losses for killing them, and cyberware slowly eats at it when its used so driving around all day spamming your sandevistan will eventually make you crazy but its quite slow compared to mulching a whole room of people.
You can finish them if you want, and weapons with the non-lethal mod (PAX) can kill too, even get some damage boost if you are outside of combat. It's just a little more convenient to capture/leave somebody alive. This is how non-lethal weapons work (it's tested). NORMAL WEAPONS: if the enemy's health drops below a threshold like 1-2%, they collapse, lay down, and act like dead forever, never going to get up: you can loot their stuff, and the threat is neutralised. But they are still alive, as they writhe and breathe on the ground. If their health drops to zero (because of another shot, or anything) they die: stop moving and blood pouring from them. I captured a cyberpsycho this way, I was showering him with rackets (from the car), but because some health left in him he collapsed, I won, but he was still alive. NON-LETHAL WEAPONS: The enemy was literally 1% and he was still fighting, they only collapsed when his health dropped to zero: but after that, he was still alive (writhing, breathing). That's all the non-lethal mechanics do: they give them a 2nd chance. A 2nd life basically (a sh*tty one, because they are in a coma but still, they are not dead). It's more convenient for the player bc you don't have to be careful looking at how many percent health they left in them, you can shoot them as normal and kill them (0% health), their 2nd life kicks in, and they are captured alive. In the coma state, anything can kill them, and yes, you can kill them with a "non-lethal" weapon. There is some exception - following common sense - if you blow their head off, the mechanics will not work. My "non-lethal weapon" is an 5++ AR with explosive rounds (firecracker mod). I have found it with the PAX attached, but it's as deadly as it gets, the mechanics don't make the game toddler-friendly.

Huh, then I wonder why I have such problems to keep the Cyberpsychos alive. I always have to restart the fights 2-3 times and go out of my way to drop their last health by a blunt melee weapon, otherwise they keep dieing on me. Even had a non-lethal SMG specifically for them, but it keeps killing them regardless. o_O

Barring occasional bugs, most things will drop the enemy in a non-lethal fashion. But the enemy can still be killed if they receive any further damage after that "downed state" has been activated. Note that the "downed state" is at the moment when their health hits 0, not when they are fully on the ground. So when they are in the process of collapsing to the ground, they are already considered in a "downed state". So even a "non-lethal" weapon can kill if it does further damage to such a downed enemy.

It would be best to stick to single shot weapons (eg pistol, revolver, sniper) towards the end of the fight with them. Automatic or burst fire weapons fire multiple rounds so there is a higher chance of us inadvertently killing them. For example, if we burst fire 3 rounds when they are low health. Two rounds might be enough to drop them non-lethally but because it is a 3 round burst, the third round follows up after the second round (that took the enemy down non-lethally) and ends up killing the enemy when they are already considered in a downed state after the second round hits.

Avoid going for the head as well. Even though that does more damage, it can sometimes kill the enemy even if we use non-lethal.

Best and easiest way is to sneak and distract them. Once they are distracted, simply take them down from behind. However, this does not really work for every CP. Especially not for the snipers that have a pretty clear line of sight (how surprising...).
