Does anyone else have sound that cuts out regularly?
It appears to be mostly background noise. It'll cut out abruptly then kick back in later often times cutting out if another noise is being made over top of it. Talking, car sounds, ect,. then as you move around it'll often kick back on.

Am I having hardware issues or is this happening in game for anyone else?

I found sounds cut out but fixed it by removing by disconnecting my valve index

I've experienced this in a few games. Usually found my audio configuration and or drivers to be the culprit. While you're in-game and have it going on, try changing the game audio presets (headphones, stereo, bass boosted, or whatever they are) and see if that instantly fixes it. Might help you narrow down what's going on.

Found it: https://forums.cdprojektred.com/index.php?threads/sound-issues.11040671/

That's the most active and detailed thread - hopefully, something there will help.

This is really good advice.

Well the weird thing is I'm not losing all sound just like background city sound and sometimes like the car engine sound will cut out but say not the Radio or Phone conversations. Thanks for the link and the advice though I'll see if it works.

Hopefully, you'll find a solution!

Yeah it's a common bug, i found out that if you change the output sound on windows and then put your main one back again, it fixes.

Oh, you have the infamous crackling audio bug. The above mega-thread link is your friend.

Apparently setting the sound to 5 - 15 makes SFX and MUSIC disappear, crackle, and cut out. Which is weird because if you set DIALOG it just changes the sound level. The other settings just disappear.

I have same issue as OP, but more of a "static"/"crackling" sound. And the sound intensifies more when I'm running around the city and hear sound effects (i.e. cars moving, NPC's talking, etc) or when battling gangs and they have the radio(s) playing (the ones that you can shut off or hack). Man, especially when the audio is rock, the static is just unbearable.

THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN HEADPHONES ARE USED. NOT when I have regular audio playing. I've also tested the headphones--plugging them in USB and going bluetooth. And when I play Warzone, this audio issue doesn't happen. Also tested YouTube and still no issue with this sound. Only in Cyberpunk.

But I have played with these settings and nothing happens...

Stuttering audio deals with CPU getting too loaded and not being able to handle audio. Since Cyberpunk 2077 is very intensive game, it can be depanding on CPU. I personally have only 6-threaded i5-9600KF which is a bottleneck.

So the solution is to make CPU load smaller. Audio output quality as windows setting to lowest possible should help as that makes it less bits for CPU to manage. Also, making sure there's no other background processes running is a welcomed optimization. All CPU heavy game settings like large crowd sizes will be an issue. If you use mods that increase crowd, traffic etc - considering lowering those settings to save CPU cycles.

Finally, Cyberpunk supports XAudio API which supposedly makes all audio processing less CPU centric - turn that on if that is supported by your system. Also, if you don't need music etc - turn those to 0 so they are not needed to be rendered. Audio profiles I cannot say how they impact but any multi-channel audio is more intenstive so presumably "TV speakers" or any other 2 speaker stereo should be a solution.

So - with all things combined - I solved audio for myself. There's no single magic trick as Youtube videos etc explain - its a combination of factors that all reduce CPU load of the game reducing the issues with audio.
