Would overclocking a i5-9600k help with peformance?
Ok I will make this short. I have a decently good PC and my RTX 2070 is getting bottlenecked by my i5-9600k acording to msi afterburner. My gpu almost never goes over 80% usage but my cpu sits between 90-100 in the most demanding areas. My cpu:s max temperature is 59 degrees and that should make it safe to overlock right? Would it help much? I don't have the money to upgrade at the moment and it is my cpu that's limiting me from the 60 fps.

Drop some setting first. Im on a GTX 960 2BG and get my 60 fps easy. Drop some setting play around and finf the best. Wait for some fix before overclocking your machine

There's no reason to not overclock. You should be at 5GHz or above all cores.
Did you edit the memory pool file based on your spec? that will add roughly 15-20 fps boost.

I am using digital foundries optimzed settings. I might try lowering crowd density though. I just realised that was an option. Only time I get the GPU at 100 usage is with RTX on but that really is a huge peformance hit.

No. I don't know what that is. Could you explain?

Basically you set HALF of your RAM on CPU and all your VRAM on gpu.
Use dxdiag to see your vram if you don't know it.

On my system, i had to set 16GB (i have 32gb ram) on CPU, and 8GB on GPU (i have 8 gig vram)

If you have newer cpu/cards like GTX 16, RTX 20/30 series, most likely wont help, but you could find it on reddit or nexusmods.

People claimed that it works, but personally it didnt do anything, i could even start the game without the config, but give that a try.

One thing that helped me with CPU usage tho, change the priority of the Cyberpunk2077.exe in task manager to high, my CPU usage went up from 50-60% to 70-100%.
Anything below 60C is considered "cool". Once the temps go above 60C, the cpu's lifespan is shortened. Anything over 80C is considered overheating. You'll be safe to go between 60-80C, if you want your cpu to last 5-6 years.

This did not work for me. Thanks for the tip anyways. Same kind of peformance still.

Some benchmarks are showing that your cpu+gpu combination are fine. check it out. You need to figure out what the issue is. Maybe you have too many background applications running, nvidia control panel needs to be set correctly etc.

Sure, and OP probably has a stock cooler.
Don't offer fool's advice to someone who owns a K chip and is asking if they should OC to increase performance.

I know this isn't rly related to this particular discussion but is a I7 8565u sufficient for this game? cause i barely break 30 fps on low settings with this cpu paired with a GTX 1650
Your cpu is below the minimum requirements.

If OP has the proper cooling and know how then by all means he can if he chooses. There are also reasons not to overclock.

And if they are asking if OC will improve performance, what do you think?
