Cyberpunk did very well in China

Of course the game has to be imported.

This might help explain why GOG backed away from releasing Devotion.

This game will be banned in China very shortly. They don't mess around with serious adult themes in their games.

I believe it is by default banned, people just use VPNs and buy it anyway. VPN use carries a $3000 fine or something like that, but people rarely get fined unless they use VPNs to complain about local genocide or organ harvesting or the lack of human rights, etc.

Yea as long as you don't badmouth the government you're generally good there. Just leave the big dog alone and you're "free"
♥♥♥♥ the CCP
no wonder you can't kill and dismember people ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ China ruined this game

Which is why they working harder to remove more and more of it from the underwear change, to harder to dismember when they dead, and recently updating to remove even most dildos :D (No joke they are doing this).

CDPR needs that modern day Nazi money how ironic given they're Polish
Also China benefits from banning just about everything. It allows them to rip off forign IPs, and ban the originals, and sell the ripoffs.

That right there is from Tencent, the *almost* owners of Epic games, and owners of LoL, PUBG, among many others.

actually you don't need VPN to buy the game in china. The government does not usually care about the games.
Then why did they care about Devotion?

It featured a picture of their leader hidden it as Winnie the Pooh or some ♥♥♥♥ and that's apparently an insult that's commonly used against him.

They don't ignore that.
so?

So it's not "approved for sale" but not "banned"?
https://international.thenewslens.com/article/144600

You can just buy unapproved games online without a VPN?
So Animal Crossing NH is banned, but not Cyberpunk?

Again, why would anyone want to piss off the Chinese government?

Lies. China bans games all the time or whines about stuff that doesn't suit their narrative.

Because they have no pull in anywhere except China, or they shouldn't at least. But Western companies have been caving into their demands the last few years, and it is a bit scary. Greed rules the day though unfortunately so they censor what China wants censored.
