But yeah, you arent the only one. i usually hate him.
Johnny is an extremely flawed character.
That's his thing, really.
When you dig into Arasaka's goings ons, you can kind of see where he was coming from (however flawed as it was)
Loading the bright and popular into digital engrams and then abusing the knowledge within while keeping people imprisoned is kind of a ♥♥♥♥ move.
And that's ignoring all the ♥♥♥♥ they do to the average worker drone. While the nuke was definitely a bad career move and entirely pointless even at that time... I have a feeling Arasaka probably has a much higher body count at this point.
But yeah - Johnny is flawed as all hell. And that's just who he is. His arguments don't always make sense.
Johnny was always short-sighted, impulsive and dishonest, even with himself.
Johnny is a chaotic person. I should place him in the Chaotic Neutral placement in the D&D alignment chart. I don't like him as a person, but I love the character. You can't have a game where everyone are just a different shade of goody two shoes. I find flawed character much more interesting then perfect characters.
