What stats/perks to focus on as a beginner?
Wanted to ask this question in order to get some food for thought. For a first time playing/playthrough what would people suggest I try and focus on for perks?

I’m looking for a general purpose gun build/stealth build and was wondering what tree to focus on? I grabbed some general good perks, like health regen, recharge on kills, faster movement as the like and have been dumping points into body for more health so far.

Whichever one has perks for the thing you want to use.

I would suggest Body as a good one for a first playthrough simply because being a bit tougher helps when learning. You also get some bonuses for fun guns on that tree. Tech is also very useful because that helps with your cyberware. Cool is good for Stealth.

Body is great for shotguns and LMGs...get the Obliterated Perk and you'll be ridiculously powerful with them. Reflex is good for assault rifles and submachineguns. Intelligence is good for Smart weapon use, but most of the perks's effects can be duplicated with weapon mods. Cool is my favorite,...the Focus and Deadeye level is great for sharpshooters, Tech is great if you want to use Tech weapons, but you have to get pretty high (15) before the Perks are available.

For your purpose, I'd build on Cool, Reflex and Tech respectively, but realize that weapons generally work quite well even if you don't spec way into them...using Iconics and even well-modded standard weapon will serve very well.

As an overall strategy, I'd build each Attribute to 9 and then carefully consider which one I need to build farther. Remember that going really high in one Attribute before you're levelled way up (Level 40-50) may not allow you to take full advantage of the enhanced Attribute. Going to 20 in any Attribute is a very expensive thing to do, and generally isn't worthwhile unless you really want the specific thing it does.

There's a Build Planner you might want to check out.
