Should I mod the game straight away?
Just started playing this game. I feel really confined by the UI llike it obstructs the world too much, doesn't help with immersion. I started thinking about mods. But should I really mod the hell out of this game or play vanilla first?

I would play the game first before modding. If you want to mod right away I'd use mods to enhance textures.

I definitely wouldn't recommend heavy modding until you've played the game a lot and know what, if anything, you'd like to mod. That goes for any game.

You may get used to the UI if you give it some more time, though I agree it has a lot of stuff.

I'm looking to 100% my Cyberpunk Steam achievements before I do any modding, just in case the mods break the achievement chain. I heard some had trouble unlocking them after modding their game.
So I'd make the same recommendation as these two, if those achievements mean anything to you.

If you are doing a first playthrough go vanilla, but you can also turn off a lot of the HUD in the settings.

Hey, another newbie here. I also noticed the UI feeling a bit closed in around the screen, but I think I found an easier option to modding.
I put up the FoV slider a point or two (for what I think may be my first time in an ungodly number of years gaming). UI is technically taking up the same amount of space, but I'm still able to take in far more of the world.

the only mod I'd recommend getting in ur 1st playthrough is cyber engine tweaks, cuz u can reset ur stats and perks with it (along with other things)
Depends on the mods you're interested in. Some are pretty cool and imo should be baseline like that Cyberware-EX mod that lets you purchase additional cyberware slots. It can be pretty imba but that's a personal choice and requires farming into being Adam Smasher 2.0 since all that chrome costs eddies and you have to increase your cyberware limit to handle it all anyhow.

On the inverse there's Blackwall quickhack mods that are completely imba or other cheat weapons that I'd personally avoid unless you want to breeze through the game.

Fixer's Hidden Gems is integrated seamlessly to add a questline for tons of hidden content already in the game--but it's more geared toward a 100% completion run...

If you're already planning replay, I'd avoid most mods. But definitely recommend Hidden Gems if you have no intention of replaying or for a second run. It requires CET, if I remember correctly, which is another good thing to have for replays (if not a completionist first run).

I recommend the pre-PL mod. The PL update bricked millions of saves, including a couple I had 100+ hours on, and ruined the skill tree and made builds far more restrictive as the cherry on top. Really I recommend uninstalling this game, but if you're going to mod, that's mod to get.

If I could go back in time, I'd play it vanilla the first run. I personally modded it to change certain things and it just started a rabbit hole, and I got lost.

Play the game vanilla first run, like the developer intended. Enjoy the story.
Make note of some things you'd like changed, and then...
Explore modding for a second run to heighten replay value.

Check the settings, with 2.0 CDPR added options to hide away a lot of the UI elements if so desired by the player.

I wouldnt recommend doing so. Most of the mods availiable in Nexus are either cosmetics (like clothing and etc) and cars. There is indeed mods that actually makes the gameplay feel more immersive, like the Romanced Enhanced series, Silent Silencers, etc... but still, not enough to be a game changing addition, like the BGS games modding scene for example.

Yeah, got me the attribute points rebalance mod, because having requirements of 18 points to open a door as a net person at lvl 20 was somehow strange. 7? I can do 7.
