I usually go 2nd and 3rd sequences (or the last and 2nd to last sequence). Before you commit you can try to route the sequences you're wanting before selecting the first character in the sequence.
The timer doesn't start counting down until you select your first character in the sequence. You can also turn off the timer altogether in the "Accessibility" options in the Settings Menu (Settings > Accessibility > Difficulty > Hacking Mini Game Time Limit).
But yeah, what Blues22475 said - figure out the moves you need to make before you make your first move & start the timer, and get the perks as well.
Yeah i always map out where I wanna select before I click it, but when it gets to this stage, there are times it simply isn’t possible and I have to step away and try again to see if the combinations would be more friendlier!
Were you under the impression that high level hacks were supposed to be easy?
Not 'easy' but certainly not impossible to achieve.
I just selected the perk "Forceful Cypher" and suddenly it really is easy to get all 3 levels of the datamines. Perhaps all the practice without this perk has prepared me well all along.
