big machine gun weapon dissapeared (first mission)

I think its in the first mission I just did, after the tutorial. And theres a guy with an LMG/machine gun who shoots through the wall and stuff. So I kill him, then loot his weapon. MY character immediately *wields* the big machinegun! But I have nothing to shoot at, so I dont use it. I then go into the inventory and equip a katana that I found and now when I look in the inventory I can't see the big machinegun anywhere?

I'm pretty sure like 99% sure that it didn't say broken on the weapon either. Some of the other thugs did drop some broken ones though.

That's an HMG in the Scav apartment in the Prologue. The HEAVY Machine Gun you will encounter in the game can be picked up and used, but you can't add it to your inventory or Stash. It will get yeeted out of your hands if you try to take it any distance. Them's the rules.

The LIGHT Machine Gun can Inventoried or stashed, but you will have to find one first. They are pretty common in Organized Crime hustles, so try doing a few of those.

Heavy machine guns are only temporary, you can't stash them in the inventory. The game will auto-drop them if you switch to anything else.
Light machineguns can be stashed in the inventory

The HMG can be found in many places in the game...notice you can rip mounted ones off their mounts and use them, if your Body Attribute level is high enough. Like every weapon in the game, they have their weaknesses as well as their strengths. It's part of the fun to discover what they are.
