PT over-rides RT+Raster.
PT/RT also over ride Ultra/Psycho SSR, and sets SSR to High internally even if you select Ultra/Psycho SSR with PT/RT.
I used to use RT Pyscho and yeah there is some neat visual treats, than PT even more but with new changes with each update, dogtown and so on, the game got heavier to run overall. I dropped RT to just go for gaming with the ALL of the non rt settings cranked to MAX at 1440p and i don't regret it. I just went from 108-ish avg to 189 avg no matter wich zone i'm on.
Sure i can notice to some degree the RT goodness but to be brutally honest, non RT settings all max, the game looks on its own gorgeous all across the board. So again, FPS + SMOOTHNESS > RT/PT.
It's not really crashes, it's glitches.
If i enable PT, then things start getting a little wonky after a couple of houers of playtime, there's a higher chance i'll see pedestrians not animating, cars stopping in the middle of the road, little glitchy things like that.
If i leave PT/RT off, then i can play for perhabs 6 or 7 houers before the wonkyness starts to set in.
content creators even made mods for lesser cards to make the game look even remotely close to path traced graphics and lock it on a patreon paywall and people still flock to them.
This is EXACTLY what I'm going through with CP2077.
When I have everything maxed out at 1440p with PT on, my game always runs above 60fps, usually ranging around 60-80fps, but never truly feels super smooth like when PT is off.
I've decided that I'm going to continue playing with everything on, including PT, but if I enter a fight scene or section where I can feel PT is reducing the smoothness of the game, I'll turn it off and restart that checkpoint because it doesn't mater how good a game looks, it's pointless if it's at the expense of a smooth and fun experience ESPECIALLY in combat sections where it's more about reactions and smooth gameplay and those small lighting differences from PT won't even be noticeable in fights.
So for walking around and just exploring and enjoying Night City, I leave it on, for fights I turn it off for the extra smoothness.
In an ideal world we would all have 4090s and never have to compromise with things like this but alas.
Also the RT/PT stutter fix mod is installed so maybe that's helping too. Defintiely recommend these two mods.

108 avg to 189 avg in a single player game? lmfao
It's not that black and white. You have to play both and then you'd feel the minute difference he's talking about.
In the first videos I posted you can see that even with RT&PT on, I still get over 60fps, but in hectic battles, things still don't feel as smooth and seamless as when they're both off. So just because you see 60fps or 80fps in a video game, doesn't mean it will feel perfect and smooth.
I played both.
Any day, any time, any sane person would choose PT and 70 FPS instead of raster and 180 FPS in a single player game.
