How fun ars assault rifles and smgs ?

I am planning my next playthrough and I am going either stealth netrunner with pistols and throwing weapons or some blade + assault weapons and smg.

I have to say I mostly used shotguns and pistols or semi automatic weapons in cyberpunk because they felt better and heavier.

I was wondering are smgs and assaults rifles fun or is ist just putting 2 mags into one enemy and spray and pray gameplay.
In most rpg shooters I have to say semi auto weapons just feel better.

There's some semi auto ARs that pack more of a punch than the full auto ones, they're basically short range snipers.

I usually stick to throwing knives and silenced pistols though.

If I have to go full auto, it's usually because I messed up.

Netrunner build with two smart SMGs and the perk for auto-reload on switch is kinda fun. (You just need to watch your ammo.)

Depends what you like. I find Buzzsaw (SMG) and Psalm (AR) fun. Psalm has also a nice 50 round max so you don't need so much MGs. There is also Broblem Solver SMG which has 90 round mag (iirc) and fires close to 1000 rnd/s. Those are iconic weapons, but I find also Ajax a nice normal AR. If I need/want to mod some rifle I usually make it from Ajax

I don't use smart weapons (I like the bullets go where I aim at).

I've been wondering this too. On my first playthrough the assault rifles and SMGs seemed like peashooters, so I played with katanas, the Comrade's Hammer and the silenced sniper rifle you get from the Panam quest.
For my 2nd playthrough I'd like to try out different things, but the ARs & SMGs just seem so tedious to use.

RPG gunplay mechanics just suck.

Unfortunately, I think single shot weapons are generally better. Shotguns feel much better than ARs, with the exception of the Kyubi. ARs and SMGs are still fun, though, but I do think they take more effort. But then again if you want it easy, tech snipers exist.

I use to be a die hard pistol main, but on a new playthrough I randomly used an iconic smg and I fell in love. Just make sure youre hugging your target and dump the whole mag into them. You should really give the buzzsaw a go, it can shoot through stuff.
