If you can't use a specific implant with the "Body Req" icon over it, it may mean you've reached your limit. But yes some implants require specific perks but you can usually see this in the Perk Tree.
There are also 2 distinct perks that increase the limit, I forgot what they're called but they're in the Technical Ability tree. Just note that you may/may not be able to get these depending on how you've mapped your attribute and perk points.
In addition to the shards mentioned above, it will increase each time you level up.
I think there are other ways to increase it, but I might remember wrong.
Just remembered that there's also an implant ("compressor") in the PL DLC that increases your cyberware capacity by around 65 units BUT it takes up the "Operating System" slot (meaning you can't use a deck or a Berserk/Sandevistan and the like while the slot's occupied).
