Hacking access points not giving any money?
I'm new to the game, so sorry if this is a stupid question. I just did the quest that gives me the ability to ping networks and hack access points. I hacked a few I found around a market, but the problem is that the hacking interface told me the rewards included eurodollars, yet when I finished hacking, it only rewarded me with quickhack components and a couple of quickhack crafting schematics. Am I missing something? Weren't I also supposed to get the money?

I'm still using the starting deck, if that is relevant.

What and how much you get of the following three components, quickhacks and Eurodollars, depends on which (or how many) datamine sequence you've entered and whether or not you accomplish completing them all. Before entering the code, you can see which resources you can get from each sequence. Some do not provide eddies. Of course even with completing all the sequences, won't earn you the huge payout you're expecting. In my opinion, the main prize is the experience you earn by doing it in the first place. Every little bit helps.

If you want a bigger payout, then you can increase your earnings by 50% by acquiring the perk Advanced Datamine under Intelligence and doubled again when upgrading it the second time.

But you got the wrong idea about pinging networks. It's a quick-hack you can use on technological devices that are connected to a local enemy network, to reveal the enemies nearby. Extremely useful if you can't get a vantage point or hack into security cameras.

I understand that. I noticed that the rewards are different so I intentionally went for the eddies rewards one. It still gave me quickhack components.

I did another Google search. One person from Reddit seems to think that each network has a limited number of eddies reward you can get. Once you get that, you won't get any more from access points in the same network. I guess that makes sense as an explanation. I wish I could verify it.

And no, I understand that. But ping also reveals access points in that network.

About that, the perk seems to have been removed from game with 2.0 update.

Eddies are typically not a sole reward in a sequence and is usually accompanied with components and/or quickhacks.

After completing the hacking, you should see a summary of what you receive and how much. I'm not sure of the validity of that Reddit user's claim. It doesn't seem plausible to me. But I quit counting my pennies a while ago. Once you're a millionaire, eddies are obviously a non-issue.

Yes, ping does indeed also reveal any technologic devices connected to the same network. Eye in the sky is also extremely useful for locating nearby access points and security cameras.

Yes I started playing after 2.1, and I've never seen that perk.

Regarding payouts, I've also noticed that some nodes don't give money, so I'm not sure if that's a bug or intentional (or some limit per network like mentioned above), but I suspect a bug. Might just have been unlucky with the few tried so far. It says in the hacking interface what gives you money (first and second of the 3 possible hacks, if I remember correctly).

But you'll notice that after the hack, you'll first see the other rewards come up on screen (quickhacks, blueprints and components), then a few seconds after that message disappears, the money reward pops up. That might be a bit confusing at first.

I did try that, but it didn't happen. Once I come across a different network, I'll test the theory of the payout is actually limited per network. Let's see.

I like the game. I just wish they did a better job of explaining some mechanics.

I suspect that's something the devs left for us to discover. In my own games, it seems to me that the access points are highly variable in how much money they give up to a hack. Also, payouts are considerably richer as you level up in the game. Notice too that many enemies have 'money shards' to loot...something new after 2.0 I believe. Weapons are also valued at much higher prices...selling looted weapons you don't want to keep will add to your bankroll fast. Of course there are decisions to be made about whether to sell or scrap for crafting components. That's what makes it a 'game', IMO.

So I tested this out, and the claim IS true. There is only a limited number of money to be gained from each network. If you get it all, no matter how many access points you solve, it won't give you any more. But the quickhack components seem infinite.

Interesting, thanks for testing / confirming :104:

It is also a small drop in the bucket when it comes to the money you can earn, so I was never bothered by the inconsistent payout. Now, if it didnt give the mats and quickhack... much different story.

sell all components you find in these. if you playing as netrunner you will find epic/legendary hacks later on in access points (if I remember correctly) no need to craft anything sell everything you find armors/weapon you will be rich. just keep few clothes you want to wear change clothes to inside your apartment.

First one + Second one: Nice Money + Low Components
First one + Third one: Low Money + Good Components
Second one + Third one: Medium-Low Money + Nice Components + 1 Quick Hack

I played thousands of hours and recently that I actually read what the Acess Point says, not all give money.

I know. That's not the issue. I've already tested it out and posted the reason.
