Or you play up to the point of no return, but then don't finish the mainstory and you then play the DLC and then finish that and after that you finish it the "normal" way. It's your choice. But i would first finish the maingame with the regular endings then reload the savegame and then start playing and finish the DLC.
But i can tell you the DLC is worth it believe me, just buy and enjoy it.
Because in other games DLC give you immediately in something new, and you are missing the main story
If DLC is an expansion and won't hinder the overall main storyline or I would know clearly when the game branches to DLC/non-DLC then it's a different story
So this mentioned "point of no return". How would I know that I start playing DLC and not the main story?
This explains it without spoilers.

If this is your very first playthrough, play the whole game and then start a new with the DLC. I think that is the best way, you will enjoy your second playthrough more.
You do need to get quite far into the main story line before unlocking it though. At which point it integrates into the main game.
So if you're currently mid-playthrough, you're good.
