Cyberpunk 2 should extend & greatly improve this game (just like Tears of the Kingdom)
This game has a lot of detailed unused locations.I think Cyberpunk 2 should extend Night City

That's my guess for Orion as well....areas around the city, inside the city [megablocks filled in with places to go, all those 'locked doors'], even underwater. There's a great deal of room for an expanded world, just like Dogtown was added to what was basically wasted space.

Be aware that CDPR is being careful with what the next game is being called. They keep using the phrase "follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077" and similar instead of calling it a sequel or CP2.

This gives them room to do almost anything as long as people recognize the phrasing that's being used.

It may not even be in Night City.

That would be such an amazing disappointment. Night City is PERFECT for CP2077.

I'll be buying it specifically to support DRM-free gaming, and because I'm interested in playing a sequel to this game.

Bet they build an entirely new city on the east coast.

doubt that tbh.
lore-wise, cities are stuck, no one is investing and everyone is still suffering the affects of the crash.
(Datakrash, money crash, enviromnental crash ect)

there was some blurb mentioned for the Edgerunners kit (its a box set, rather than just a book, with 3 books and a bunch of dice.) they shared a little info on one of the premade missions 'The Jacket' (yeah..THAT Jacket) and mentioned you would be able to explore the H4, so my guess is some of the detes and floorplans might make it into the digital game.
i mean, why not?
the work the tabletop folks do can be added into the digital since the work of the digital made it into the tabletop XD

so we could at least have 4 different megabuilding floorplans to use as templates for Orion.
(H10, H4, H8 and the one the 6th street are using..been a while and i haven't done it as much as the rest lol)

it's a lot of effort to build a working, functional and logical, living feeling city.
NightCity may have large areas that are empty inside, but it feels like a breathing, living lived in city.
might as well use those plans to work off of, then add/subtract zones.

if the Corpo's won, maybe the CorpZone stretches all the way from the edge of Haywood park far into Watson and the Oil Fields got cleared and turned into safe subburb ConApts for the CorpDrones.
its clean, safe (no gangs) but filled to the brim with Suits, cops and CorpSec on every street corner.

maybe Pacifica was sold to KangTao for a single EuroDollar lol...and its been forcibly cleared, the edges of Dogtown walled up to keep the 'undesireables' from the now KangTao run streets and beaches.
most of Pacifica fled into Dogtown or up past Haywood into Arroyo.
6th street would probably take them in, since they are NUsa sided, so would not like KangTao taking over Pacifica.

That could be the case. They could also move the timeline significantly which would also change Night City a lot.

The next Cyberpunk game is only in the concept phase[www.cdprojekt.com]. In other words, CDPR themselves haven't decided what the game will be about or how it'll look like yet.

They are quite literally deciding what the next game should be.

Not likely, Night City is a very titular place in the series. Actually, despite the worldbuilding and lore behind the series NC is pretty much the only setting all the TTRPGs books take place.

Yep, that's what they did for Cyberpunk 2077. In the Cyberpunk Red book, the setting takes place in a NC after the nuke so there is a giant, irradiated crater taking up much of Corpo Plaza.

How about a huge curve-ball and set the next game in Tokyo? Not that it really matters, but Tokyo played a pretty big part of the early Necromancer novels.

cyberpunk 2 is not gonna be as big as this game, the hype is not here anymore
Silverbane7 May 10, 2024 @ 12:51pm
The de-canonised 'cyberpunk 203X' took place around the time the bombs dropped, but RED takes place in 2045, 22 years after the AHQ disaster
Life is still sh*t, yeah
But things are looking up a little. Arasaka is back and hiring, things aren't quite as bad as they were.
The upcoming Edgerunners box set will take the timeline from 2045 thru to 2076.
The digital game takes us thru one year or so.

I would think 2099 is a good year. End of a century is always a weird time, odd things happen.
People do gonk sh*t the last couple years and the first decade or so of a century.
If your gona drop the Blackwall. 2099 or 2112 are good years to do it in.

I'm calling it Orion until we know what the actual title will be. We all know what it means.

They aren't starting the new game from scratch, exactly. The IP and a lot of design work is already done, and I suspect the devs are _full_ of ideas for how the story will be put together. Phantom Liberty came out pretty quickly...even Edgerunners introduced well realized, developed characters and a complete, if short, and satisfying story. I think 5 years is a reasonable time expect the sequel (or whatever) to take. I think it will be a masterpiece too.
