crafting spec for higher tiers?

I bought some purple crafting spec. I remember before I could craft the gold tier ones even if I bought the lower tiers earlier. But can't seem to find that option anymore.

Only iconic items can be upgraded now, all others are only craftable to the rarity of the spec.

The exception is cyberware which can be upgraded to Tier 5++, right from the start, from white or any other color but they dont come as spec anymore.

thanks. so does that mean I need to find the tier 5 crafting spec for all weapons in order to craft them? That's BS as the drop rate is pretty low already...

Well, you can also buy or find the actual weapons, of course, or go with iconics which can be immediately upgraded to the top level if you have the materials.

2.0 changed things up quite a bit and crafting specs are kinda rare now, aside from iconic ones, I dont think I've gotten any as drops going to level 47 where I am now.
If you find crafting specs at vendors now, and they're not guaranteed to have them, its maybe one or two at most anyway

I do get highest tier drops constantly since level 30 thereabouts so...

ok thanks. I use the preem weaponsmith and enhanced crafting mods so it's much better for me to craft my weapons than using the random ones I find (often without any mod slots).

I guess I will just use another mod to get the blueprint then.
