Phantom Liberty DogTown micro stutters / high cpu usage
Are they ever going to fix all the micro stutters in this area of the game?
The game feels very heavy compared to the smoothness of Night city
Theres 35k players daily playing on steam, does everyone just deal with it or something

Phantom Liberty is significantly more dense with more draw calls and geometry, the higher CPU usage is perfectly expected.

I tried the game on ultra settings native resolution and I also tried the game on lowest settings + fsr performance mode. The game is still choppy, especially when driving around the area

No problems here. What's your setup?

Your CPU just isn't powerful enough or you are dealing with thermal throttling. Personally, I have no stuttering in Dogtown. Don't forget to enable DLSS 3 frame generation if you have it because it can improve FPS without additional CPU demand over just pure DLSS 2, though it wont solve a CPU being excessively underpowered (or thermal throttling).

My 5800X3D is brand new. Temps are 61 degrees. Usage keeps hitting 95-100%. I understand that playing at 1080p doesnt help but come on... Im getting 85 fps in DogTown I should be able to play fine. Im really upset because i was enjoying the story with Reed so much

I'm using a Ryzen 5600X, and don't experience stutters. But I limit fps to 60 in Nvidia control panel and use G-Sync, which smooths things. Mostly max setting, RTX ultra, ray reconstruction, DLSS Balanced, although sometimes Performance in Dogtown (RTX 3070 Ti, 1440p. Rest of specs in profile).

Running with unconstrained fps will often cause stutters / uneven frames when running hardware demanding games.

Cap your fps to 30 or 60. Should eliminate micro stutters. I had a similar problem in Ark Survival until I tried that and my games were butter smooth after that. 60 FPS is more than enough to play with anyway.

100% usage with that cpu? try closing background programs or run a virus scan. that seems unusually high for this game, maybe im wrong.

Are you using any mods or running background apps? I have no stutters whatsoever so must be something on your end

Near Heavy Hearts is very taxing for CPU, and it was worse before 2.1...
CPU bottleneck...

I do not download any sort of mods as i hate them. I like the game Vanilla and ray tracing off

I have a 7700 XT default settings, 5800X3D stock setting, 32GB 3200, 1TB samsung 870 evo and a 1080p 144hz freesync premium monitor

I cant wrap my head around what seems to be the problem to run this game. I will point out that ive seen countless reddit posts claiming the DOGTOWN has terrible performance with the CPU. so im putting it on that, because Night City is smooth as butter for me. So as Spiderman, Last of Us and Assassins Creed M.

The last option i have is probably uninstalling the game and buying an m.2

Thank you. This video confirms that im not going insane. I was about to cry after spending all that money on the cpu

yes, me with ryzen 7 5700x JUST DEAL WITH IT...i need either i5 - 13600k or ryzen 7 7700x to fix high cpu usage problem to say the least

UPDATE:

I reset all shaders from my AMD adrenaline
I deleted all files from the App data folder DX Cache or something
Limited FPS between 70 to 85 FPS for a consistent pace

The game is playable. No stutter while walking or big gun shoot scenes. The only time it stutters is fine im driving in the bus areas of Dog Town, noticable when 100% cpu usage occurs. During fight scenes on ground the CPU is at 50-55% usage which results in comfortable gameplay..
I would like to try the game on a fast NVME but most probably wont make a different. However it keeps me curious as CD Project recommend it for ultra settings
