Dogtown City: DLC Required?
Hey there, quick question about the 'Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty' DLC. I'm thinking of snagging it soon, but got some lingering doubts. Can I check out Dogtown without diving into the DLC story? Just wanna scope out the buildings and vibe without getting into the new quests and plot.

or maybe there would just be a few minutes accessible from the start OF dlc before you can buy it

You will have to do the pre-quest to gain access to Dogtown, yes - and recieve a "passport" to be able to enter and exit at will.

So, here's my thing: played the DLC at a buddy's place, and there's this scene where he gets a call about crossing the border. Now, before I buy it myself, can I actually head over there and kick off the DLC without owning it? Also, can I just check out the new zone's buildings without committing to the DLC?

You can get near the border sure, but go in the dlc zone without owning it? no.

Is the texture visible?

The border checkpoint certaintly is, Dog Town itself? Idk. Why not watch a youtube video of the area? I'm sure the are some 4k Dog Town walk-around videos that don't touch any quests.

I've been told that if you get inside Dogtown without the expansion it looks half finished, and you have no missions.

Buy the expansion then do it up to the safehouse.

Youtube and google exist for a reason. Use them.

Interesting to see how much was included even without the DLC. But meant to be seen from a distance, naturally :lunar2019smilingpig::stop:

But yeah, like chris mentioned above, Dogtown is basically just a run down place full of unfinished and abandoned construction projects, many more drug addicts, roads that haven't been maintained and are overgrown with weeds and lots of rubbish. Even outside the district you'll notice roads leading to it are more cracked and in lack of maintenance. Not sure if this shows without the DLC, but it probably does.

Use FreeFly mod to visit it at any moment

ya was going to suggest this as well if they really want to find out. i'm not going to remove PL just to see for myself tho lol. i occasionally use the freemod to skip right through the boarder dogtown, especially if there is a wanted level ( got a mod that has increased the wanted times by at least 10x )

So, my main question was: 'Can you access the zone without having the DLC?'
So, my question, which is totally valid, is whether they're teasing us with a taste of the DLC content to push players into buying it. Wouldn't be the first time a game dropped a DLC with a teaser allowing players a brief glimpse into the new zone.
Figured it made more sense to ask here and get a straight answer from users rather than wading through a bunch of videos and sites spouting nonsense.
Anyway, thanks for your 'answer that makes no sense' response.
You sure live up to your 'clown' title on your Steam page.

I asked that some time ago, I was curious to see what Dogtown was without the DLC and someone told me it's all broken and empty.
Freefly saved my ass in some bugs too like when an elevator went down with me staying up, I think it was with Hanako so I was needing to join her

"Dogtown" only exists in the basegame physically to provide silhouettes and building facedes, when looking at it from the outside. So it doesn't just magically "Pop out of nowhere" when you buy the expansion.

But it is completely void of anything meaningful inside. It's a cardboard facade like you're in a hollywood western.
