DLSS Ray Reconstruction Can Not be Enabled
trying to get DLSS ray reconstruction to work (running a 4090)- however when I select preset as overdrive and path tracing as on - the DLSS ray tracing reconstruction slider box remains white but can't seem to move the slider box from off to on - anyone any ideas how to enable it? - any help appreciated.....................

I have it enabled, but I only have a 3070 Ti.

I can't use path tracing with that card, of course, but do ray reconstruction and path tracing somehow conflict or overlap each other, or something, so you can only use one of them? I haven't read up on path tracing since I can't use it.

And silly question, are you using DLSS? :lunar2019smilingpig:

what setting do you mean? (have DLSS overdrive enabled at the top?)
strangely when I do this also notice some sparkling effect on this skin of characters?

Some say presets don't apply until after relaunching the game. They usually work for me without needing to relaunch but now and then it does bug out. But in all cases i can still select ray reconstruction.

Obviously DLSS does need to be enabled. There is no Overdrive selection for presets. There is one called Ray Tracing Overdrive. And btw that turns on Reconstruction and you can use the slider. If you select Ray Trace med the slider is white and can't move it. So turn on Ray Trace reflections hit apply then you can use the reconstruction slider. But does sound like you may be of the many that settings just aren't applying correctly. So ya just try relaunching the game.

If still not working reinstall gpu driver. Still not working uninstall gpu drivers using ddu. Note i said driver(s) check for amd as well. Then install new gpu driver.

Odd and ya sounds like driver issue. And your screen should look like this.

Well I don't have anything called DLSS Overdrive, so that must be for 40xx cards only.

(Edit: I see the DLSS Overdrive now, sorry. I didn't check the presets thing... I'll let the remainder of the post stand, though. DLAA might be your reason for it not being available.)

It might be similar to DLAA (which I have an option for), which uses DLSS technology, but without scaling a smaller resolution image upwards to chosen resolution. That way Ray Reconstruction is not needed. If I select DLAA I can't use Ray Reconstruction either.

Which reminds me, I noticed that when you can select things (on or off etc), the buttons are red, and when disabled they're white. You mention that it's white in the first post, which means it's not selectable.

Frame Generation is white for me, for example, meaning I can't select it, since this is only for 40xx cards.

It's disabled because Ray tracing Reflections was off. It's the only Ray tracing setting that disables it besides turning the main Ray Tracing off. Well that and DLSS obviously. Selecting DLAA ON you can't select Reconstruction. And as Bjorn said; Nothing to reconstruct at 100% render scale which DLAA uses. Reconstruction is for DLSS not DLAA.

couldn'd find a "ray tracing reflections" settings in the ray tracing options or in any other - where can I find it?(note my other settings look same as in the above screen shot)

I believe you will not see this option if you use path-tracing, only ray-tracing. Disable path-tracing and keep ray-tracing on, hit Apply, and there should appear 4 different additional ray-tracing settings you can turn on or off, including Ray-traced Reflections.

I can't use path-tracing, so not quite sure, though (and I'm not on my gaming PC now). Path tracing should be better than ray-tracing, I believe.

Exactly as Bjorn said. And mac use Steam's screenshot and post the pic here. It's not that complicated.

As for pathing being better then just Ray Tracing. well hm with my 13yo cpu i didn't like pathing with reconstruction at all. With my 13600kf i do prefer pathing with reconstruction. Could have just been the 2.11 patch made it look better as it came out close to the time i upgraded cpu. Was using RTX 4080 before and after cpu upgrade though. And maybe i just got used to the oddness of pathing and reconstruction. Haven't checked lately to see if waterfalls still bugged.

Update drivers to latest if you haven't done that already.
And if you are NOT on windows 11, turn on GPU accelerated hardware scheduling.
In game, you must use DLSS on any setting except DLAA.

thanks for the reply - but managed to find path tracing and disabled it and then found ray tracing reflections and disabled - but strangely the reconstruction is showing as white and not letting me slide it to on - also note using DLSS settings

Odd Win 11 here and with an RTX 4080 i have Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling turned ON and no issues in games. And yes i know many have issues when it's turned ON. But i'd always suggest ON 1st and Off if needed.

Mac if you turned reflections off reconstruction will turn white. Must have reflections On along with DLSS anything but DLAA.

I use path-tracing myself with Ray Reconstruction on with no problems (i have a 4090 too). Of course, you have to use the DLSS resolution scaling.

You should may be look in your ...\Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64 folder if there is a 'nvngx_dlssd.dll' (last letter must be a 'd', not a 'g') file which is the one used for RR.

If this file is not there, you can verify your game through Steam or directly download it from the techpowerup site

If the file is in the folder.. well i don't know. You can try to copy the new file (and make a backup of the old one) or may be a full game reinstall ?

Regular Ray tracing, path tracing, Ray reconstruction have all their advantages and downsides. It is a question of personal taste i think...

Yeah, unfortunately as gamers we kind of take and get, dlss and frame generation kind of get us better fps but then we gotta apply sharpening to make the fps playable

I can't wait for when dlss and fsr implement a lot of AI so that hundreds of frames could be generated a second, in any game
