dlc buy or not
I haven't finished the base game, do I recommend buying the DLC or should I just buy it when I finish the base game?

Buy the DLC, it's worth it.

DLC = a lot of content and additional activities.

For sure, must buy it!

Without spoiling anything, when does the dlc story start? I'm about 17 hours in and about to meet Hanako at Embers.

DLC Story start after you kill (or not kill) voodoo gang. After you must get phone call from Song So Mi, if you decline help, you lost possibility to start DLC story at all.

If more precise, you will get two answers possibility to Song So Mi call:
1.accept mission
2.Say that you will think about it and give answer later. = BUT it is not put all main dlc quest line for later, with that you decline help and dlc quest line will not be anymore accessible.

But it not mean that you are forced do dlc imediatelly, you can simply accept to help Song So Mi and do what you want, even finish main game story and then go and continue DLC missions.

DLC starts after you meet the VooDoo boys in Pacifica.

Thanks for the info. Does the dlc change the main ending in any way? I'm thinking I'll just finish the main game now then restart and complete the dlc.

Yes there are some new endings that the DLC ads and fits well into the main game. DLC gives you more levels and relic powers and new weapons that you can use in the main game.

I woudl recommend playing the DLC when it unlocks.

Yeah, I downloaded the DLC expansion midway through my game and though I didn't intend to finish it before the main game quests, I was swept away by it and did the entire Songbird quest, seeing the ending based off my decisions and then was placed back in the game, where I could proceed to finish the base game quest.

For me personally, it felt seamless and almost made sense to do it this way, because of how my base game ended. (felt like actual closure, despite also being allowed to continue on after you're done).

The only thing to note here is that the expansion story will not allow you to replay a point of no return (because there isn't one) once you're done with it. If you want to see all the conclusions, you'd have to reload an earlier save to replay the sequences.

Unlike the base game's point of no return, which will allow you to replay that "Hanako at the Embers" quest, as many times as you want at no penalty to the remaining game because essentially, it starts you over from the point you're about to enter the Embers building again.

The great thing about it though, is that you get to keep the loot you get from each path you take. :)

I only got to watch one conclusion from the expansion, not realizing it was a one time thing for that playthrough. It's been several hundreds of hours since, so I'm going to just have to start a new game later (which I intended on anyways) and make sure I see the remaining conclusions and nail all the achievements while Im at it.

Anyways, hope you enjoy it!:Catexec:

TL;DR: Buy Phantom Liberty on discount.

It should be mentioned that Phantom Liberty is not for stealthers or netrunners, it's exclusively designed for die-hard shooter fans. There are extremely hard bosses, neverending brutal chases, tower defense and even a stupid platform sequence in the dark. I HATED it.

In my last run, I decided to skip the main PL quest by simply going away when Songbird wants me to enter Dogtown. By that, you lose the main quest and can still do the extra gigs there, because fixer Mr. Hands calls you up anyway.

The DLC is absolutely worth it.

Although the Phantom Liberty story can come to a conclusion 4 different ways, there is only one distinctly new game ending if you work it that way. But the expansion is more than worth playing...it's turning the Night City dial to 11...

I would diagree on this, I played through it as a netrunner and had a blast and no problems with any part of the DLC.

Sounds like a skill issue. My only significant gripe as a netrunner was that it felt so stupid to me that in order to get a certain quickhack, you can't side with a certain netrunner. I feel like being on the side of a netrunner should be the path that gets you netrunner loot.

I'm also absolutely disgusted with CDPR that there are no Reed/Song Mi/or president romances in the game. Absolutely inexcusable and CDPR should feel ashamed of themselves for this.

No, it's a taste issue. I didn't say I couldn't cope, I managed to finish it (annoyed and frustrated), only to be rewarded with this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ending that makes V's entire life pointless. What a waste of time.

I'm worried that Cyberpunk 2 becomes a bland shooter. Quickhacks and stealth are what makes fighting in this game special. They seem to have forgotten that.

Romances? Oh, well. I deliberately broke up with Judy so I don't have to go to diving school with her. And I snitched on Panam so I didn't have to go to tank-driving school. River's family party can wait for me forever, and Kerry... if I could kill that guy, I would.:steammocking:

Just do a manual save at the Songbird point where you decide which way to go, that is your point of no return for the endings.
