About upgrading weapons

Am I able to upgrade them to accommodate my level? I'm level 22 and I have a comrade's hammer, can i upgrade it so it will still be great at level 50?

I know it used to be that you can upgrade weapons with repair parts but it didn't scale with level, so you could get a fully upgraded gun at level 22 and get the same gun and upgrade it at level 50 but the 22 one would be completely obsolete because it scales to a lower level

You can upgrade iconic weapons, yes, like that hammer. Not normal weapons.

Need higher tiers of crafting components the higher you upgrade the weapons. These can not be bought, but are obtained by looting, missions rewards or by dismantling other weapons.

Lower tier components can be combined to craft higher tier ones.
