It may not be your play style but lot of people love netrunner build.
I am currently doing another netrunner build, have 0 weapons equipped, just use hacking and monowire for mopping up. It is a blast.
how many of these amazing AAA games allow me to not only do that, but also walk up to my enemies, press a button and they all shoot themselves in the head in spectacular fashion, and I haven't even taken out my gun yet.
"boring" is a very subjective emotion. To me no other game does offensive hacking like Cyberpunk 2077 does in an FPS open world. It's actually amazing, if you ask me. Many games that do just the shooting part alone. Almost none do both this well.
Try berserk. I tried it before sandy, and it's one of the most fun builds. Kill as fast and as quickly as you can, grab dudes to throw at others, spam explosives as much as you can before you berserk before your berserk and buffs run out. It's the weakest OS by far, but also the most fun by far. Only downside is you need to go full carnage and can't stealth well.
Stealth is very boring on decks. By mid game, all you do is hack cameras and keep trace below 100. The game even tells you when you kill everyone when trace stops. You don't even need to step out of your car for either combat or stealth. By mid game, I had no idea how the interiors looked like, as I could do a complete wipe from the street.
1) As a pure Netrunner, and by that i mean using hacks as your main weapon. Ehh... i think this is matter of taste, you'll either dig it or find it boring.
2) As a stealth aid. If you want to play a stealth build, then it's almost a requirement, because it's tied directly into the game's stealth mechanics. Hacking objects is how the game's distraction mechanic works, it lets you deal with cameras quietly, and there's a number of stealth hacks like Bait, Reboot optics, Call Backup and System Reset that are super helpful for a stealth run.
Personally, i don't find the pure netrunner thing all that exciting either, guess it's just not by thing, but i do enjoy a good stealth build, and challenging myself to clear out a whole area without ever getting spotted.
I play stealth on some builds without hacking. You can deal with cameras quitly with a good silenced weapon or thrown weapon. My knife throw build does not use hacking, throw knives at cameras and one shot enemies with head shots.
"You can", is true. Yes, you can.
But not being able to do basic things like distracting enemies is not ideal, i woulden't say.
Never said it's the most fun just that it's the best in terms of effectiveness. You can distract enemies, turn cameras and turrets on your side, knock out enemies from very far away with no trace on some quickhacks, make enemies blind... And if you think it's OP now you should've seen it before the nerf. Could literally clear out an entire building by just uploading Contagion once. If you don't like neither the stealth or the combat of the deck then definetly don't use it
I've done that too but it's a little more challenging since when you destroy a camera you don't trigger the alarm but enemies get on alert and start patrolling
There are many ways to create a fun build that suits your play style. I like to "pew pew" and hack, so I build my V around that preference. Cyberdecks are also great in traffic and police chases. Whether you want to hack their handbrakes to stop a chase peacefully, or go psycho and blow their car up.
I'll eventually try other builds when I feel like it. For now, I'm really liking what I have. Not too OP but it's effective and quite exhilarating because I can actually die. I have no mitigation perks. So I best be good on my feet.
I think the only thing your missing here is the fact that everyone likes to play their own way man. "boring" is subjective. What you find exciting, some have claimed to be boring.
You do you, man. Enjoy going berserk.
You can get by on stealth with recon grenades, if you grabbed the nade skills you can basically spam them forever and lead any npc anywhere, even in groups... it def isn't as easy as other forms of stealth but it can get you though the hardest stuff.
Those and high jump legs tend to make most stealthing pretty manageable in my experience, lol i've jumped off the back of parked cars to skip sections of stealth a few times
Or, max it out but use it sparingly, the gunplay ain't bad if you didn't spec for it, keeps combat interesting, and then you whip out the psychic nukes when you are done playin around.
It still should have been developed more, enemies fold too easily and enemy netrunners should have actually been dangerous, but this is what we got. Appeals to the cheat code gamers I guess.
That is rude calling netrunners cheat code gamers. I would say the same about using berserk and slow time skills to wipe out groups of enemies just as easily when they do not have the same abilities to use on you.
