Yes, but a lot of people don't understand Family Share.

If someone is "borrowing" any game from your library, your entire library is locked out. Only one person can use the library at a time.

so the fact that the game requires an external launcher does not preclude playing via family sharing as in GTA 5???

If the game is started through Steam (Steam says "Playing..." or "Running" or whatever it is) then the Library is locked out and if the Library Owner starts playing ANY game, it will kick the borrower off.

Besides, GTA's launcher is linked to your Steam account. You can not use a different Rockstar account. You can only use the one linked to Steam.

Yup. Friend and a brother. Can't do it the same time thou, they just line up and play the game 1 at a time.

Used to be able to play at the same time if the owner launches steam in 'offline' mode. Not sure if that'll still work but might be worth trying.

Likely it would since Offline Mode cuts communication with Steam, but many games don't work purely in offline mode these days since they require a launcher or Denuvo or other third party shenanigans.

Family Share is a neat idea but Valve still wants their money.

It's doesn't lock you out of playing anything but the game they're playing. Y'all need to stop speaking nonsense like facts.

You necroed the thread without taking into account that the situation has, in fact, changed.
What was said in March was true in March.

Thread closed, as it is outdated now.
