How is the GIM fight supposed to play out?
I got through the GIM (GMI? something) without alerting people on the mission for Placide and found the woman. Whoever she was.

On the first attempt, I got a lot of interference so I could barely see what was going on (intended, I assume) and after shooting her in the head a few hundred times without killing her, I realized she just kept healing up and was probably bugged so she couldn't be killed. It did not seem right at all, at least.
On the second attempt, there was no interference (no idea why) and while she still healed up, it wasn't as fast as in the first attempt, so it only took about thirty sniper rifle headshots to kill her.
In both attempts, her AI seemed to bug out after she'd thrown the hammer, so she was mostly just standing there. Or maybe it was because I kept using Cyberware Malfunction on her?

I finished the last part of the mission without problems, but I don't really have any idea how the fight against the woman was supposed to play out. It just seemed weird, awkward and messy, which I would guess is probably not how it's intended to be.

I had a similar issue few days ago when I beat her.... though in my case all enemies were alerted and killed beforehand... even though I was being stealthy and shouldnt have been detected... just instant combat from using memory wipe, reboot optics, sonic shock combo on certain enemies...

but her fight when I faced her I dropped quickhacks on her and she just stood there taking it.... never fought back at all.... even pulled out a gun and shot her in the open and no fighting back...

I didn't dare to try any hacks on them, or on anything else, because I don't yet know which ones alert and which don't (I only started to play the game last week). I only used takedowns (and one silenced sniper rifle kill, but it wasn't high level, so instant kills were far from guaranteed). Which was a bit of an ordeal.

I think I read the Sonic Shock now alerts people, which it apparently didn't do in the past, so maybe that was issue you had?

yeah, weird.

She also didn't seem weak to heat at all, though her scan said she was. I tried incendiaries and Overheat and they didn't really do anything.

All control and combat hacks alert enemy and start tracing... you can only use covert. Your best best for hacking is to use Memory Loss at Epic level before stacking any other hacks. Sonic Shock works, sort of, but you'll have to use it, let it apply its effect, and then stack, otherwise it'll add to trace as well.

For the fight, just use auto shotguns/pistols and shoot her in her little backpack energy thingie... that nerfs her quite a bit. You can also just sneak past her but doing so has a negative effect on a later side quest in PL.

Or you can just sneak up to her back an rip off that regen cyberware to make the fight easier.

im aware of the change to sonic shock.... thing is with memory wipe tier 4, reboot optics, and sonic shock tier 5.... that is pretty much an untraceable cheaper version of system collapse.... its supposed to be untraceable and knock em out without dealing any damage.... its pretty much the safest knockout combo netrunners have.... other damaging combo's I use sometimes end up killing the enemy... but that one is the more sure way to take em out the non lethal route and quietly....

but yeah to avoid tracing entirely you gotta use tier 4 memory wipe on enemy first.... the tier 5 version is mainly to just drop out of all combat but costs 32 RAM... but tier 4 version only costs 10 RAM....

which is good with embedded exploit perk.... it provides a 60% damage increase for a combat quickhack that is right after a control or covert quickhack... meaning using memory wipe followed by say synapse burnout is gonna be 60% more damaging.... and with tetratronic rippler cyberdeck at tier 3 or higher is gonna give a 40% boost to a combat quickhack if a non combat quickhack is used following a combat one.... so a combo of memory wipe, synapse burnout, and cyberware malfunction.... would provide that synapse burnout with a 100% damage increase....

The fight with Sasquatch is supposed to be you either running in, or sneaking into the room, stealing the hammer, and then start blasting.

ah. Good to know. I barely had tier 2 stuff, so I guess there wouldn't have been much I could have done with hacks anyway.

... I suspect I'm missing something if people normally have tier 4 and 5 hacks at that point. I was level 21 and was only just starting to find parts for crafting hacks (recipes for tier 1 and 2 parts seem to be much harder to find than recipes for tier 3, 4 and 5, in my experience so far).

I didn't even notice she had that, to be honest. It's a tad dark in there. But I guess that explains why she's just standing there for ages when you first see her (unlike later, when she's just standing there to be shot at. That must be a bug).

netrunning is... unique.... I mean what I normally do is early game in act 1... i'll see the client and do the bd thing... but delay the maelstrom mission and grind skills to 35... for the extra perk points at levels 15 and 35 for each of the skills giving me 10 more perks... there is a nice little loop I do to pull it off... just running around and farm enemies that respawn...

during that time I dismantle everything like crazy.... and I upgrade the lower tier components into higher tier components (you know those crafting recipe's automatically)... it takes 75 to upgrade to a + tier and 37 to upgrade to a whole new rarity tier... normal weapons dismantle for 5 components of their rarity value.... and + weapons dismantle for 7.... and 5 of one crafting component can be upgraded to the next tier in a 5 to 1 ratio.... so basically a normal white weapon dismantled would give 5 tier one components..... which you can craft 5 into a tier 2 component.... so basically a white normal weapon is equal to 1 tier 2 component...

by time im finished leveling the skills I pretty much already have a tier 4 cyberdeck....

which btw.... netrunning vendors are unique.... normally vendors are based off of character level... as in they wont sell higher tier stuff till your character reaches a certain level.... BUT.... netrunner shops are tied to your cyberdeck level.... meaning if your level 16 and have a tier 4 cyberdeck... the netrunner vendor will sell tier 4 quickhacks and schematics... they are expensive lol.... but something like a tier 4 memory wipe that will last the rest of the game is well worth it...

I just did this, I sneaked into the room and picked up her hammer. then sneaked up behind her and ripped her implants out. then proceeded to shoot her with the shingen mark v, that you pick up in "gimme danger". smart smg that causes fire damage which I read she is weak against. run around the room in a square. run away from her, make sharp turn, turn around and shoot, rinse and repeat. heal yourself a lot eventually she falls over incapacited and v says "she has had enough".

Thanks for the explanation. I did try to do something like that in my new game, but it felt like it took forever to get anywhere just by killing gangers.
Though, it did give me some idea of where to find some larger gang concentrations, so maybe I'll try again in another game.

Good to know, and yeah, everything about netrunning seems very expensive.

Good to know, and yeah, everything about netrunning seems very expensive.

well thanks to the radioport its not so tedious anymore lol.... just listen to music while running around with your weapon.... far as time goes it varies on difficulty..... I play on very hard mode so I get the most amount of skill xp making it go faster.... tried it on normal before and its a very noticable difference.... of course bunny hopping helps speed it up.... thats when you press the dash button and while the animation starts like weapon droops down a bit you jump.... its a LOT faster than running....

also the whole netrunner shop.... the actual quickhacks are the expensive ones.... and the quickhack crafting component recipes... but the schematics themselves are cheaper by a lot.... and out in the world the netrunner enemies drop both quickhack components and quickhack crafting recipes.... and the data terminals you hack also drop them too if you do those right...

but its not hard to get money farmed up... easier to farm money than skills.... and pouring money and crafting upgrades into your cyberdeck as a netrunner is not really a bad thing.... I mean as a netrunner its your main "weapon" so to speak.... so the more you invest in it the more its gonna pay off...

as for my route... I just rest in my bed first then use the shower in order to get a 10% skill exp gain buff from bed and a passive health regen from shower....and I use the travel terminal to go to NID: East in watson... I do a loop around there that is big enough that enemies will respawn....

but basically when I do it on very hard I can get most skills im farming from 1-35 before the buff wears off... engineering is the fastest.... at 9 engineering I can get perks for faster grenade recharges and 3 grenades.... toss them at the enemies feet since their all kinda within grenade blast zone anyway and dismantling gear makes it go by super fast.... with netrunner skills and headhunter kinda level up same time when I run around and stealth hack with a knife to throw at the ones who are low enough in hp it didnt finish off... that leaves solo and shinobi the "slowest" ones.... but if you are level 10 ripperdocs start selling gorilla arms.... and you can equip gorilla arms and level solo hella fast like engineering... and shinobi you can use blades or mantis blades if you want... I kinda like to use smart assault rifles early though.... its a little slower since it levels both netrunner AND shinobi.... but mleh.... it helps with reaching the higher tier skills that buff up overclock earlier... 2 for 1 deal...

but yeah otherwise all the other ones are pretty much fast using the right tools.... skill xp takes more xp to level the higher it gets.... but pretty much way I found is level 30-35 range just one loop is equal to a level plus some roughly.... I mean if my skill is level 30 I know its gonna take less than 5 loops for me to hit it to 35...

its not as fast as the leveling spot in pacifica that your able to go to after completing the heist though.... but my OCD compels me to do it early lol...

Thanks for all the explanations. I started a new game to try out some of your methods, but I am playing Nomral and it really takes forever. It's taken me about a day to get to level 10.

Just don't think I can play on higher difficulties. I don't seem to have lag, but the game doesn't always register certain keypresses. Sometimes I can hit C 12 times before I finally crouch, and weapon switching can also have problems at times (other things mostly seem fine). It's not like the activation is delayed, like you'd normally see if it was due to lag, the keypresses just don't do anything.
I'm pretty sure it'd lead to frequent deaths on harder difficulties.

But I'm learning where to find gang concentrations, at least. Found two large NCPD 'force is permitted' areas which I hadn't seen before, one an underground Scavenger haunt. Pretty fun.
Also tried to go to the badlands because I figured the Militech patrols would be good XP, but apparently you can't do that early in the game. Which is rather disappointing.

ouch.... you try turning down graphics a bit?... I know I had some issues before but turning down graphics like removing ray tracing helped my performance.... I mean my computer can handle it and all its just one patch they did ended up kinda breaking it so it didnt work like it used to and caused me issues....

also very hard isnt "very hard"... I mean enemies are stronger yes.... and early game you gotta be careful.... but pretty much you can still stealth kill them even with quickhacks pretty easily.... and use a knife throw to finish off enemies that can be finished off quietly with a knife... but pretty much with embedded exploit perk in middle tree.... to provide 40% extra damage to a combat quickhack when used after a noncombat quickhack.... a reboot optics followed by overheat is really strong... and if you can get a tier 2 version it will be even better with more damage... like even on very hard that combo can kill a lot of enemies in one use early game....

as for farming route.... im sorry I remember seeing a video of the route years ago.... but cant seem to find the route I use now.... but i'll try to explain it best I can....

in Act 1 its pretty much me resting and showering before heading to NID East....

and once there facing the street I turn right and head straight... a group of 3 enemies will be sitting on couches.... kill them... then keep going a little bit further direction I was going... behind the building those enemies were facing pretty much....

to the right is a alleyway.... I go straight into it and will see 3 enemies at end... end them then there are 3 more on other side of big area near a car and fridge... end them..... and 3 more right around the corner by 2 cars... end them.....

from that point i'd backtrack to where the enemies by the car and fridge were right before killing the group by the cars.... go down that alley and onto the street.... i'd cross the street but turn left and walk... a group of 3 enemies will be by a big propane tank and a broken car... end them....

then continue down the street and depending on time of day things will be different... at night there is a party with more enemies that will spawn... end them... and farther in the corner is a group of 3 enemies to the right that i'd end... those 3 are aways there....

backtrack towards the street and hang left and walk foward.... first left turn take it and you should see 3 enemies by a car to your right around the corner... end them...

continue walking forward somewhat hugging the building to your right that is connected to the street.... should walk till you see an opening to the street on the other side of the building that your walking around.... dont go that way though its just a visual reference..... instead if your looking at the opening to the street turn your character left and you'll see a large wall with barbed wire on top... and some big boxes you can climb... hop on them and onto the wall... this barbed wire doesnt hurt... and down below are 3 enemies by 2 cars... end them...

with wall to your right side travel down and to the street and take a right... right after the intersection on the left side are 3 enemies... end them and go back across the street....and continue same direction you were going... a short distance are 3 more enemies next to a broken car with a lot of trash bags lying all over the place... end them....

then cross the street and continue same direction you been going and hang a left on the street with the deposit box.... travel down till you get close to the NID east travel point you started at... and to the right.... close to the travel point is a big construction site open area with a lot of enemies.... i'd take them all out quietly.... using quickhacks early game this means a lot of tossing a bunch and running away to drop the tracing.... I use the deposit box as a good direction to run towards here.... then back for more silent quickhacks.... but the enemies here only spawn like every 24 hours.... so killing them once means they wont be back for another 24 hours and dont have to worry about this part all the time to slow you down...

but otherwise... thats MY loop I do... if those enemies that respawn every 24 hours are gone or after finishing them off i'd just restart the loop... going down through that area to reach the enemies on the couches again...

overall not counting the enemies that spawn 24 hours and the car party... you have 10 groups of 3 enemies to deal with... guaranteed...

for me i'd use grenades to build engineering first... giving me 2 more perk points to help out... but even things like melee or shooting I like to use reboot optics on them when im reloading to stop them from shooting or attacking.... works well with enemies that like to run at you too... help stop them in their tracks for a few seconds...

also in the loop with the area where there are like 3 groups all kinda close together right after the "couch people" lol.... there is a nice sweet spot where you can climb the thingy kinda in the middle of the area.... like if your facing the first group you should see a small box in front of them.... hiding behind the box facing them turn around and there is a metal roof thingy you can climb onto... on top of it you can position yourself to be able to see all 3 groups at once.... great spot to use smart targeting weapons or quickhacks pretty much without having to move around... other areas have similar high spots you can use.... couch people you can climb the building their facing with double jump onto the AC unit and onto the building.... group of 3 near the party area I like to climb the truck far away from them.... the area with the 3 by the bunch of trash bags i'd go to the corner with trash bags and double jump onto the wall to shoot them... since one or two of them are really charge happy... and the group of 3 by the propane tank i'd climb onto the propane tank...

anyways sorry for the long post lol... tried my best to explain it from memory... hope it makes sense...
