There used to be a mod called 'Streetstyle' that did just that.
It only supports 1.63 Legacy and below, but its one of my must have mods for 'OldPunk' lol.
(Mod is hidden, unfortunately, since it is no longer supported, but if you still have previous copies saved, you could use those)
Added a style buff system.
Each item of clothing had a 'style', based around the 4 main clothing styles.
Kitsch, NeoKitsch, Neomilitarism and Entropism.
Along with those, there were faction tags too. (Corpo, Arasaka, NCPD, gang tags and a couple Roll's tags)
Each item of gear had attribute buffs. +1 thru +5 for each attribute.
The mod added up the total for each attribute, then rounded down to give you the 'buff'
And, wearing 3+ items of the same style gave you a 'style' buff, up to +6, which contributed to your attribute buffs, for the conversation and door ect checks.
It increased the attribute check numbers, so you couldn't just faceroll them with overpowering numbers.
(Helping Delamain, for example, needed an 18 Int check, but that meant you could scrape by with an int of 12, +6 items of the same style gear.)
It also had a (very buggy) system where you could use the costume slot to disguise yourself as some other faction/gang.
There was a video on YouTube for it.
They chose the mission where you hack the parade float.
Player wore the 'Arasaka hazmat suit' and the matching techie helmet. Walked right into the facility, carefully avoiding walking near guards (not crouching, or sneaking, just acting like a normal employee lol) because guards can spot the difference.
Hacked the float like they were just a maintenance tech updating firmware XD.
Why? being stylish is part and parcel of being a Cyberpunk.
Style over Substance. its the backbone of the game.
you choose a bangin Leather ArmourJacket over some bland looking Body Armour. Because looking good gets you noticed (both good and bad reasons) which gets you street cred, which gets you gigs.
Hell, it's in the game, partially from the rule of the Sourcebook.
'Cyberpunk 2020 Rulebook' shard (found in a couple of places)
It doesn't matter how well you do something, as long as you look good doing it. If you're going to blow it, make sure you look like you planned it that way.
Normally, clothes and looks don't matter in an adventure - in this world, having a leather armor jacket and mirrorshades is a serious consideration.
Think dangerous; be dangerous. Think weak; be weak.
Never walk into a room when you can stride in.
Never drive slow when you can drive fast.
Throw yourself up against danger and take it head on.
Never play it too safe.
Stay committed to the Edge.
ah, a fellow afficionado ^^
i still have it. i'm a hoarder at heart, and i never delete a compressed file, habit of years of collecting Sims CC (and multiple reinstalls of said games due to 'issues' lol)
i really miss the idea of the style bonuses. i could live without gear having armour ratings anymore (unless they were supposed to, 2.0+ ones i mean)
but the costume cammoflage and mimic abbility would be fantastic now.
imagine, being able to cobble together a bunch of Barghast gear, pass yourself off as a rookie....you could walk around Dogtown and never have to worry.
Or imagine you had a set already and just popped it on when you get out into the stadium. you wouldnt have to even hide, could go right to Spaceforce1 and just swap out once inside.
being able to wear gang colours and, if you had a high enough knowledge about each gang, you could blend in. Gigs to just steal would be fun...walk in, access pc (steal data) or authorise yourself then steal car.
or...
Imagine dressing as a Mox, when you went to beat the snot out of Jotaro ^^ and the game npc's acting like you WERE a Mox.
(i've done that before lol. have a V that's roleplayed like a Mox.)
And i agree i really wish the cool stats or some sort of acknowledgement would be there for cool and maybe making outfits if you pair a few together or idk i'm not a game dev but yeah i would have loved more implementation between the cool skill tree and clothing the lore gives it so much space for creativity.
think they decided to go 'all in' on the cyberware for 2.0
maybe they (devs) prefer to just look like a weirdo who got dressed in the dark lol, than actually look some kinda cool.
Totally get the idea of the look, tho.
but then again, I've been collecting the game since the tabletop dropped. Tho there wasnt much art for it back in the books, what there was, was cool but concept art.
black n white mostly.
considering the clothing has also advanced a bit (smart clothing, auto heat/cool, self cleaning cloth ect) there should be some synergising between cyberware and clothing proper.
hell, back in 2020 we had coats made of reactive plastic, that could show off adverts, or you could totally watch your fave tv show on.
don't tell me they couldnt convert that see thru skin to see thru leather (i mean, snyth leather jackets that they unpick the stitching on, to use as artificial skin for RipperDocs, Regina gig?)
I remember Thermal cloth that had shifting heat paterns. chamelion cloth that cycled between shades and displayed logo's.
could have co opted that into camo/optical camo and so forth at the very least.
hehehe. Potential Bozo gang member? Happen to have a love of cream pie to the face?
Do ladders make you want to carry them about? Does the thought of sticking Velcro patches to ladies legs to destroy their tights (pantyhose) make you grin?
But in honesty, if that's what bakes your bread, enjoy ^^
I drive my motorcycle in 3rd person a lot, I see my character all the time.
That being said, my Arasaka Corpo Ninja V looks fire.

I remember the first playthrough I played a dude with an armoured bra, cause the armor stats was better than a bulletproof vest lol
and the scene in the tank with panam he kept on the bra I was on the floor rolling I lost it it was too funny.
Lemmi guess....the spotted one found in the metal lockers at Clouds? It, and a pair of turquoise pants are always found there, with a scopdog (at least, for me)
So.....NOW the slight flirting Panam's always done with my girls makes sense!
She has a bit of a bra fettish XD.
