Playing this game is exhausting
I've always had difficulty committing to this game. I love open world games and tons of people love this game. It only makes sense for me to like it too and yet I have trouble seeing it through. The new patches sure made it better, but I think there's something about the setting that is hard for me to enjoy. It's almost too chaotic and too bloated. I just get overwhelmed by everything to a point that it's exhausting to play. It seems like I don't like the atmosphere of the game and yet I think I should if that makes any sense. Anyone else feel the same way?

The gameplay itself is pretty fun, so I'm not getting bored with doing samey NCPD missions.

I like this game a lot. I haven't played in over a year and yet have to play PL. Thing is that I have played the story 3 times already and I really don't want to go through all the same missions again. I like the story but I am sick of the forced missions that teach you things about the game( liek that brain dance one ugh), and the conversations etc....I know you can click through the conversations and I've heard there is a skip the tutorial missions option now so maybe I'll try that. OF course you are level 15 and I like being a weak noob but oh well.
Other than that this game would be perfect for me if it was a bit more like Fallout/Starfield where you just kind of do whatever you want. That being said you can do whatever you want I suppose if you jsut ignore the nagging mission icons and text messages.

Maybe V's story is already too repetitive for you, that's my case.

You know everything that happens, the best decisions, best places to find a specific weapon, etc. It seems to make no sense to be exploring NC after you finish the game.

No, I don't think I've heard anyone complain about a game having to much content before.

I'm not sure that's quite what they meant. It sounds like the OP is suffering from the paradox of choice. It's a real thing; look it up if you don't believe me. Basically, when you have so many options, it becomes harder to make a choice.

It might be why people prefer how skyrim did it. "Hey! You're the dragonborn go here!" "Hey join the mages guild!" "Hey, have you heard of the dark brotherhood?"

It still amuses me that Bethesda treats the players as if they wouldn't be able to find major quest lines.

Something CDPR's own devs have spoken about with their games. One of the reasons for them offering a route through this one which is only 20 to 30 hours long and is handheld all the way. You don't have to do all the things, even if most of us have been conditioned to chasing down every last map marker - sometimes because companies gate progress to you doing it (*waves to Ubisoft*). I know Miles Tost has proposed (seriously) setting a number of map markers off by default as a solution to that sense of bloat but also to reintroduce a bit more of a sense of exploration for those who want that, helps to reset player expectations as they come into an open world which is totally optional.

That's how I played by accident first time (I found the map annoying to use and it made me feel like I was box ticking rather than exploring a new world) and it was a superb experience.

Cyberpunk shoots itself in the foot a bit in how it delivers content. There aren't enough gates to receiving new content, so it can all come at once, and it comes by so many phone calls and text messages that it can make you want to scream in the early stages. With the ultra short version of the main quest being the most obviously telegraphed, I'm not surprised some players do literally just that and miss, what, 75% of the game's content, seeing it only after they reached the end(!).

I suppose that was pretty much inevitable given the sheer density of the game world. It's not as if you can walk into the tavern -- the only noticeable building for a mile -- and say hi to the three locals in there and get content that way. But it needed more thought.

The journal is also fairly problematic in a game with such a large number of side jobs and quests coming at the same time. It's written in the language of Night City, rather than to the player. It doesn't tell you in plain English precisely what you're doing and, worse, if you come back to a quest five real world days later after playing other bits of the game, there's nothing in the journal that *reminds you* of what has come before in quest 73 or whatever it is. Often, you can't remember.

I love the game, and played it first in early 2021, but if anything showed how they had to finish things up in a rush, it was the back end systems and things like quest delivery. I'm doing a replay and it still feels crazy overwhelming and confusing at times.

I think I get what your saying. I do feel burnout building in me after doing continues side quests and police situations. But what I found is that in some quieter zones you can just walk and take in the sights. Or just drive around at night. I don't fight or look for trouble, it's like I'm on my own quest to find the perfect spot.
Hope the game grows on you, cheers

Opposite for me. I actually think the game is too short. I find myself not wanting to end the game just so I can roam around longer.
