Pistols/SMGs that actually do damage?

I just bought Phantom Liberty and find myself reverting to the .50 Barrett (Five Oh) to finish off enemies that I can't pick off with Overheat and Short Circuit netrunner abilities.

I have a ton of yellow-coded (rare?) pistols and SMGs in my inventory, but every time I try to use them enemies act like bullet sponges. I'm pretty far into the game and have access to buying any weapon or doing a sidequest to get the best pistol/SMG in the game. Can anyone recommend a setup where I only have to shoot once or twice to finish off decently strong enemies with a pistol/SMG?

The Five Oh is great but it only holds 3 bullets and reloads way too slow. I also use a yellow Katana which can kill any non-boss in two hits. I only use Gorilla arms for the boxing side missions.

have you tried putting skill point into pistol related skills? from what i can remember best are: nue, overture, malorian 3516, her majesty, Ol' Reliable, jackie's pistol and comrade hammer mostly for fun. you can chekc youtube for full list and builds. with power pistols you always aim for the head for best damage.

Sounds like your build is a mish mash mess. If you want pistols and smgs to be good, you will need to specialize.

Thanks, yeah Id rather put the points towards Edgerunner, think its more fun except that enemies can track you. Would love 100 percent stealth option

I'm a fan of the Fenrir paired with the Kyubi x-MOD2 for an SMG/AR build.

Guillotine xmod2, and Problem Solver are good for the non-smart SMGs. The Smart SMGs are the single most broken weapon class when combined with Overclock, Paraline 5++ cyberdeck, and Submachine Fun, but that is a highly specialized build.

You have to go comrades hammer and ignore the hacks. You only need one shot, and a mop to pick up what's left.

If you are finishing them off try a power rifle.

Hmm, I pistoled my way through the game in PL just fine, with non-legendary pistols. Even the non-revolvers do quite well headshotting people. (pistols+hacks, with a PAX sniper rifle for cyberpsychos)
