It seems like it is intended only to jump players ahead for PL only (likely due to past 1.x saves having all kinds of issues with 2.x which would require a complete do-over without the head start) and not to jump players ahead for regular content.
far as i know, if you just stay away from the area in question, you don't trigger the next quest objective.
the game gives you a level 15 V (who you choose what they look like, and lifepath) and it assumes you have done certain specific quests. also, gives you some basic gear for your level.
so if you don't mind missing out on helping Panam get her wheels back, Judy to find her friend and Goro to talk to the daughter of his old boss, plus meeting a certain skull sponge's ex output, you are golden.
(you can do the follow up quests afaik, for all these folks, without issues, but you might not have said the exact things to them you might have wanted to.)
Also you miss out on quite a few iconics when you use it.
the above mod let's you fast forward scenes really really fast and get some missions done in a few minutes instead of 10 minutes or more and you can run really really fast too , I can't play without it now
Set difficulty to easy (for speed sake) make a new V. Don't spend points in character creation (so, 3's in every attribute. Gets you those points to spend later) pick the lifepath you want.
Barrel thru by just focusing on the specific quests needed (plus one side quest)
You get your cyberware, talk to Dex, (go do 'the Gift side quest) get the flathead (whichever way you prefer), talk to the client, go to Afterlife, do the heist, and the aftermath of the heist.
Do NOT spend attribute points (that's why you are on 'easy' lol)
Do NOT allocate points in the skill tree. (This preserves your one free attribute reset, and saves you having to refund and redo the skill trees)
Once V wakes up in the shower...exit the shower and you make a save.
I tend to face the vending machine and save there. Gives me a visual reminder via the thumbnail.
Now, THAT is your special restart save.
You Keep it, use that save when you want to restart (but can't face the heist again)
Load that up, set your difficulty to how hard you prefer. Set your attributes and skill tree points.
Change your hair, eyes, nails ect at home, or the whole lot at the nearest ripper.
This strategy even works for console, since its just keeping a save you don't delete.
Yep, sorry. Was late night for me, forgot to say manual save.
(Plus, I've typed that lot quite a few times now, for folks who wanted to skip the heist part)
