Phantom Liberty ?
Hi All

Just a quick question, I've purchased phantom Liberty expansion ready for when I finish the main game.
So just wanted to ask how you access it when iam ready to play it.😊

Any help would be much appreciated.

Kind Regards All

It will be installed with your base game and you will start getting missions for phantom liberty automatically.

You don't have to finish the main game to start it. In fact, it's recommended to start it before you finish the main story, since doing the Phantom Liberty missions and meet the characters there will give different and 'more satisfying' endings, as far as I've understood.

I'm also on my first playthrough of the game and googled a bit about how to play with the DLC. I copied something I found somewhere into a text document:

Originally posted by Somewhere on Internet:
Rather than beginning Phantom Liberty when the opportunity presents itself, hold off on jumping right in and play until you unlock the Act 3 mission ‘Nocturne Op55N1, which is one of those “You can’t turn back beyond this point” missions.

That means you’ll need to complete Act 1, and the following Act 2 missions:

Search and Destroy
Play It Safe
Gimme Danger
Automatic Love
Down on the Street
Playing for Time
Tapeworm
Ghost Town

By jumping into Phantom Liberty at this time, you’ll be far enough in the main game that the new ending, which you can only unlock by beating Phantom Liberty, will actually make sense. That’s because depending on which endings you unlock in Phantom Liberty, there’s a chance the game will end right then and there for you. But by reaching Act 3, you’ll essentially replace the Act 3 missions and endings with Phantom Liberty’s creating a much more satisfying, and complete, story arc for V. Plus, characters from the main game will factor into new Phantom Liberty ending, but their appearances will make much more sense once you reach Act 3 of the main campaign.

Note that I changed the order of the missions listed there as I completed them, but you get the gist of it

So now I'm playing both the DLC and the original side by side, doing gigs and side missions in both places (and they sometimes overlap).

I'm about a third of the way through the main story of the DLC, and I have the mission 'Nocturne Op55N1' still to do for the main game, which I will save until most other things are done in the game, I believe, since there is 'no turning back' once it's started, and you're forced to choose an ending.

I've read you'll be asked if you want to keep playing after you finish the main story, though, and taken to a point before the ending, and given some bonus gear depending on your chosen ending, but I'm not sure how that works yet.

It's probably enough just to finish the Automatic Love questline. It ends with I Walk the Line, and that's a tough quest including a hard boss fight, so don't rush into it. And don't betray the Voodoo Boys! :steammocking:

I must say though, the Phantom Liberty endings are absolutely not more satisfying, they are almost even more depressing.

Just make sure, once Songbird calls it, to get yourself to the Dogtown entrance as fast as possible. If you don't get there fast enough, the mission will fail and you'll have locked yourself out of the Phantom Liberty story.

Just to clarify, complete the act 2 missions, not act 3. When you start act 3 there is no way to go back, so you won't be able to do the DLC at all.

Or that's how I understood it. Good luck! :letsgo:

Are you sure about this? I had the 'invitation' to go to the Dogtown entrance for a long time, from lvl 20 to lvl 40 or something, if I remember correctly, doing all kinds of different missions and gigs before I finally started the DLC content. Or do I misunderstand something here?

But I remember one mission where you had to meet up somewhere within 24 hours (if you didn't come along right away) or the quest would fail, but I think that was some quest from Panam, regarding romancing her (which I've done ).
