We don't speak controller. :D
(Huh, or maybe it was this game, just nearer to it's original launch)
I vaguely recall that some people realized that it was a more common feature in real-FPS-FPS's rather than RPG/FPS's. So for those of us who've rarely played competitive FPS games, it seems novel & strange. (I've been hold-right-click aiming since two button mice were a thing, honestly. So this game being locked-RMB isn't an issue, it's what I've always done.)
So personally, for me? The whole idea seems incredibly awkward. On the other hand, I know how muscle memory & habit work, so if you've been doing that for a long time in other games, the lack of it in this game would be *really* annoying.
This.
Although I want it for comfort, because I'm lazy. And it's a standard feature in most modern shooters.
idem ditto, the original call of duty and medal of honor has that feature ...... why in 2024 still not using that simple feature ??
The game would have to go through a controls redesign phase to accommodate this, because it was never considered a thing to do, and it will be on the developer to implement it correctly...
You're thinking, all they need to do is make an elaborate enough inputContexts.xml and bob's your uncle... and maybe that's true, but it doesn't seem it's that cut-and-dry.
I've done it. it's trivial in linux to control your Xorg input driver via ev commands, you can move the pointer, even click-down draw things, send phantom clicks from a shell, and yes enable click-locking.
But you'll disable it within 15 minutes when you see the many many issues it causes. Especially a netrunner who needs to pop up their kiroshi scanner for quickhacking.
When you hold right-click whether or not it's sticky, for ADS, ever walked down the street in v2.x... civs can fight back now from a distance, not just when you put a gun in their face, and NCPD will immediately aggro on you since forever. What about melee? if you just use a right-click lock then blocking becomes two clicks, without being in a separate "combat" context, and your mantis will make you do that backwards get-away hop if you attack while it's active, not what you wanted to do.
Many things can glitch out, you can't open doors or enter vehicles, and I don't mean just now, I mean once you try it too many times, suddenly the [F] Open stops showing up at all, and you have to suicide flatline to reset it. Even jumping and ladder climbing can be interrupted by it.
What I found hilariously funny was that in the scheme of regular roaming the city and doing missions, I was double right-clicking just as much as holding, turning it on and off, on and off, on and off... probably adds up to just as much finger strain as holding it does. Someone with pain when they hold vs clicking may still prefer this, but you will have to really train yourself to only leave it toggled in combat mode.
File a Feature Request on CDPR's site, hell, send a Bug Report if you think it'll help. I don't know that it will, but our options are limited besides complaining about it. Course if complaining about it makes you feel better, keep complaining, but please don't let it devolve into chaos - our mods are nice people, don't make em smack you for acting out.
