Ken Block's Tribute Car is a Hunk of Junk
It was a cool idea for CDREDPROJECT to have a tribute car to the late racer Ken Block. The implementation of this idea however is pretty sad. Said tribute car is a Quadra Type 66 Hoon. Sadly it may well be the WORST HANDLING CAR IN THE ENTIRE GAME. It fishtails like crazy even at low velocity and driving it is an aggravating nightmare. I will never use it in a race again. I fear Ken Block is turning in his grave...

Just play Forza Horizon 5 or GTA5, driving is much more enjoyable.

GTA5 isnt much better with PC controls.

So you don't know how to drift? It's not rocket science because I'm no rocket scientist and I can handle the cars just fine.

It's not realistic drifting because the car glides like a piece of butter in a hot frying pan, rather than gradually losing grip.

And it is not difficult. You make it sound like you need to be a pro driver to do this, when it's oversimplified.

This game does have a problem with floating car physics and the turning being center focused rather than front wheel based.

Tell that to the dude that thinks he's a god at driving because the physics simplifies it for him, lmao.

I think he is just being overly defensive, this is an aspect of the game that is legitimately bad and deserves derision.

I'm not sure why many are having trouble with driving, Although I play on controller, While not perfect the driving is in a way better state than what it was on launch. It's pretty noticeable though that it could use some tweaks, Like when you go to do a 360 and reverse out of it instead of rolling backward, The car stops completely still for a a second and it kinda throws things off. However once I learned to not over do the handbrake and feather the throttle drifting is pretty okay imho. The Gear ratios also need an adjustment every car seems to short shift like crazy and other times when driving normally it likes to rev out the gears which is very odd almost like its backwards in a way, But those are just some of my observations after playing for a good amount of time I don't think its too bad at the moment.

I personally do not have a problem with the driving, just the way that cars move.

@yahboi1988 You appear to be over simplifying the problem. @Porkhammer and @valium are largely correct in their assertions. The physics of cars in Cyberpunk 2077 are noticeably off. This effect is particularly pronounced in the Hoon, which as a racing car, should be higher geared and have better handling into turns at high speed. The game does not model this. The Hoon does not even drift properly into turns and lacks all the handling and turning radius it should have at high speed. braking is also handled differently in professional racing. For perspective the classic racing technique is to do all your braking in a straight line before turning into the corner and then drive the car on acceleration into and through the turn. This effectively uses the centripetal force of the drive wheels to drive to the apex and around the corner and counter the effect of centrifugal force. The net effect is that race cars pick up speed as they go through corners. Again, the Hoon does not exhibit this behavior.

The Type-66 cars are still better than just about anything for the bonus races you could do after the beast in me quests. The Javalina were my easiest wins, I am working on the assumption Hoon is just a different skin and otherwise identical.

A big part of this is their videogame mass value allowing them to steamroll through 'oops a scripted hatchback rolled in front of you!' like you a bulldozer better than some other sports cars, rather than their handling or peak speeds. It also means if they bump a road barrier they have a better chance to keep going instead of going full gary's mod superball.

Which was probably a lot more important back in the day of "I just saw them teleport a truck into the sky in front of me and drop it onto the street. Are you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ serious?" as opposed to the modern day "We have car hacking and lock on missiles, only literally 3 out of 6 cars are not immortal. Luigui's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hatchback is a god I guess?"

I like the Javelina/hoon but for videogamey "This is still ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid fake driving physics, but the least ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for my needs" reasons rather than "Whaa whaa game perfect u just want GTA!"

Which reminds me again how many sports cars that struggle at speedy turns or even leaving their parking space without treating it like a cautions granny, can still to perfect GTA3 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ whip around reverse U turns from a dead stop like they got wheels made of soap. Except it is to your benefit instead of detriment in that case.

the physics outright suck for cars, it's like driving on ice that is somehow grippy at the worst possible times, and the cars have infinite gears (if they arent cvt transmissions) as it's just an audio file.

Skill issue

I play with keyboard and been using it a lot and have no real issue with how it handles, fast, agile and strong, what more can you ask for in a car.
