Tetratronic Rippler phrasing question
"+40% damage with Combat quickhacks when immediately followed by a non-Combat quickhack in the queue"

This means first putting on a non-Combat / covert quickhack like Memory Wipe, then a combat one like Overheat or Short Circuit for the 40% extra damage on these latter ones, right? Would be pointless to put on covert quickhacks after a combat one, I suspect?

I like that you can use Memory Wipe first, then for example Overheat to finish them off without starting a trace, so I guess I understand it correctly, but just wanted to confirm.

I understand the Cyberdecks have been changed since release, and I couldn't find much info on the new specs when googling. My first playthrough.

(I should probably have posted this in the gameplay subforum, but busier here )

:steamthis: And while I'm at it; at what point can we buy tier 5 Cyberdecks directly from the Ripperdocs, please? I'm currently lvl 37, and max street cred (50).

Upgrading them from 4 to 4+ alone costs 75 tier 4 components. Very expensive!

(Never mind I googled and think we can buy them at lvl 40. Think I'll keep the Rippler until then).

Using the same thread for another question about the Rippler. The tier 5 trait puzzles me a bit as well:

It automatically applies Reboot Optics and Weapon Glitch when using Overclock.

1. Do we need to have those quickhacks installed for it to use them? I don't normally have them installed. So if we don't have them installed, it would be nice if they didn't trigger automatically since...

2. Those two quickhacks start a trace and thus kind of break stealth, right? I haven't had Overclock for long, but I've mainly used it to be able to use Memory Wipe and a Combat hack on a few people close to each other at the same time, so that others aren't alerted.

...

3. Would perhaps another Cyberdeck be more useful for my kind of stealth play, then? :steamsunny: I got the Rippler mainly for the +5 RAM, but with Overclock that isn't alpha omega anymore. What about the Arasaka one? Is that good for stealth?

Thanks again for any tips.
1. No, You don't have to install them.
2. I would say 8m is really close distance. Basically like being next to enemy. To be honest, I think, I never run Overclock while being that close to enemies, even by accident. I use Overclock as a last resort help if there are more enemies than I have RAM to hack them so I can convert my HP for RAM. With good build with Rippler You will get a lot of RAM back from quickhack kills anyway. So in my case I didn't have any problems since I never had to use Overclock while being that close to an enemy while doing stealth.
3. Well I also play as stealth netrunner and for me Rippler is simply the best. A lot of RAM, huge damage and nice additional weapon damage. Arasaka one is pretty decent I think, but it's not for me personally. You can try it but it's most powerful version is available at level 50 I think.
4. Yes, Rippler MK 5 is unlocked at level 40

Many thanks! Good point with the low range of that auto-feature. I'm normally quite far away from targets.

I do like the Rippler, and have gotten into the habit of doing non-combat hacks after combat ones for the 40% extra damage, so I think I'll keep it  Cyberpsychos and such go down like flies...

On top of that with some specific cyberware and skills You can get even more RAM and a lot of RAM back after quickhack kills. Rippler with good build is probably one of the best if not the best cyberdeck right now.

I reached lvl 40 and can buy tier 5 Cyberdecks directly now, and noticed there was a new, Iconic one, called Netwatch Netdriver Mk. 1. I has the same amount of RAM as the Rippler (13, the other ones have 9 at tier 5), even though it doesn't say so in the specs.

I haven't bought it yet, as I'm about to enter Dogtown now (or tomorrow), and I read that you can browse all the Iconic stuff at all the ripperdocs in there, so I'll see if there are other iconic Cyberdecks of interest first, but this seems like a nice alternative to the Rippler.

Anyone familiar with it? I tend to use cameras quite much.
