I chose street kid since 3 out of my previous V's were Corpo. He does sound incredibly disconnected. One of my complaints about the female V is that her lines at times sound forced or very try-hardy, especially when trying to sound tough. But I find that the male V doesn't really seem to put any emphasis on the delivery at all, which comes across even worse.
Maybe I will start over as a male corpo
so you prefer the female voice acting. nothing unusual there, we all have our preferences. In a single player game we can make choices that we prefer. I have done several play thrus with most being with a male character. I enjoy both genders voice work.
Though not sure what you didn't like about his voice acting. For me didn't feel generic, like those same voices you know you heard in several games.
This sums up my thoughts on both really as well now that I think about it. I prefer female V's voicework. I think part of it for me is also that I imagined male V would have a little deeper voice than what's in game.
Which also isn't meant as a dig at either of the voice actors. Even Keanu's parts come across a bit disconnected or odd for the moment/scene at times.
I still can't imagine it's easy work, and with all the lines that all the actors had to put into it I can see how some may have come in a little flat. Overall through the entire game they both did a pretty decent job, just a few stumbles here and there.
I do think male V fits Corpo the best though, both in vocal pitch and the occasional dry or flat delivery. Corpo types are as a trope dry or flat in tone and delivery especially when they 'mean business'.
